It is my understanding that the seat heaters or coolers have to be restarted when the car is turned back on due to EPA standards that affect gas mileage. You need to actively start them each time you start the car.

I know for a fact that a couple times, I started my GS Luxury package and the heated seats came on automatically.

I am not sure, but I believe it was 30-ish degrees. It's been warmer since I noticed that happening, but once it turns cold again, I'll keep an eye out for it.

Maybe it's just the cooled seats that have to be restarted. I've driven in 100 degree weather in summer and I've had to restart mine everytime I start the car.

Ok, Lexus first told me this same response as well as that in order for it to work they would have to get approval from the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHSTA). When I reiterated to them that I, as well as the Lexus Technology Specialist, Service Consultant and numerous other dealer personnel at the dealership not only had seen it function on two new vehicles right off the delivery truck from the port, they got quiet and say they would have to have a technician get back to me. That has been weeks now with no response. The EPA and NHTSA excuse is just one they are using because they dont know the answer and they wont send anyone to the dealership I told them about to check it out for themselves. Guess they think that everyone at that dealership that has seen this function work are looking at UFOs. My next step is to take a video of it working on a vehicle and send that to Mark Templin and ask him why I keep getting the run around from Lexus

Also if the EPA thing was true then why did they continue to make the dials in the 13 ES and very recently released LS which can be left on as when turn to the heated or cooled positions the seats automatically come on. Come on everyone dont let Lexus continue to blow smoke. And for those of you that keep speaking of the outside temperature, that doesnt matter either. If you read one of my previous posts you will notice that in one car I tried it with one seat ventilated and one heated at the same time and they both came on just as soon as the car was started. If it was temperature affected then for sure both of them wouldnt have come on with one being heated and the other one being cooled.

One was a 2013 GS 350 Luxury Plus just like mine and a F Sport. When the car is running if the ventilated seats are turned on you can turn the car off and then back on and the ventilated seats are still active. It also happens with the heated seats the same way. It doesnt matter the temperature as it was 80 degrees F and the heated seats were on when the car started. I even tried one time when it was over 80 degrees and turned the heated seat on for the driver and ventilated seat for the passenger. I then turned the car off and restarted it and the heated seat automatically came on for the driver and the ventilated for the passenger. So this is an option that does work, it is just up to Lexus to determine how it is programmed to work.

The latest response they told me was that it wasnt an option and if they were to program this to work then they would first have to get approval from the NHTSA which doesnt make since if they already have 2013 GS 350s operating in this fashion. Maybe if everyone that currently owns a 2013 GS 350 starts calling Lexus and asking them how to program this to work, maybe they will really research this and find out how to make it work. I find it hard to believe that the only two vehicles out there that does this just happens to be the two I saw at the dealership.

Here are the steps to see if it works on your vehicle.
1. Start the car
2. Turn on the ventilated or heated seats
3. Turn off the car
4. Start the car again
When you start the car again, the heated or ventilated seats should automatically come on just as they were before you turned the car off.

Note: It does not matter what drive mode the vehicle is in as I tried all the options on that and it worked in every mode the same way.
WHat I was refering to was the heated seats automatically coming on based on temp and passenger regardless if the heated seat was on before you shut the car off or not.

Both my driver and passenger seat turn on automatically to the previous setting. Can't speak the cooled seats as I have only had the car for a week and it's 35-50 degrees here.

Same here, I've observed the heating come on automatically on cold mornings when I'm positive I turned them off the night before.

Anyone notice their seats turning down the heat level automatically? I was on a 3 hour drive yesterday and turned them on full (3 bars) when I started the car. After a half hour or so I noticed it was down to level 1 (1 bar). Don't get me wrong, the feature (if it is one) works perfect for me. I'm just not used to that.

That's how they're supposed to work.

It was in the high 40s today and I still needed to restart the heat seaters when I restarted the car. Doesn't work for me. However, I did notice them turning down automatically after a while. That's pretty cool.

You need to make sure you're in the S-Flow mode on your climate control as well as Auto. If you're in the high 40s I don't believe you'll see the seats come on automatically. I usually have to be in the 30s for that to happen, but here in Vermont...that's pretty common this time of year...LOL!

I was looking for this thread! Glad it got bumped!

This is odd b/c I have checked multiple times and our seat coolers/heaters (wife's F-sport) come back on when we re-start the car, we don't have to reset. What is odd is in the Vossen Project GS, it does need to be re-started every single time and it is annoying when you forget (need those cooled seats in Miami).

I will try to see if I can figure out the difference.

My heated seats kicked on this morning. My garage was 55 degrees and it was 30 outside. I also had them on when I shut the car off. Mine consistently turns on if they were on when you shut the car off.
