Exclamation Windnoise problem resolved

Just got back from the dealer, and they have stopped the windnoise I was experiencing. See this post : https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-side-gs4.html

They diagnosed the issue to be that little black triangle in the corner of the window directly across from the mirror. I was told it wasn't seating properly, and it was allowing air behind it; hence making the windnoise when I was going above 40-45mph. See the attached picture.

They used felt and I think tight closed cell foam strips underneath to get it to seat right, as well as felt along the edges to stop any air from getting under it. The red arrows in the picture are where they put felt/foam. You can't see anything in terms of where they put everything, and I'm not about to take it apart to see exactly what they did.

Now I only experience windnoise at much higher speeds, if you know what I mean.

I am curious, and wish I did this myself, but for those with this issue could you try something?

If you applied painters tape to the location in the picture with the red arrows, does your windnoise go away too?

Glad to hear that this is no longer a problem for you. Hopefully this will resolve the issue for all those who are getting the wind noise.

Nice one, nothing is as irritating as unwelcomed noise in a quite car.

This is basically the same fix the guys on the LS460 forum have been using for fixing the wind noise problems with their cars.

My car has developed the same noise. Sounded like it was coming from the upper drivers side window. But, I rolled down the window and it was a loud whistling sound coming front he outside. Put my hand over the front of the mirror (to the side) and it stopped. Started putting tape where original poster noted. Seems like it is quieter when I put the tape near the front of the small black piece. Was making the noise at around 45 mph, now at around 55 mph.

Default No improvement at all

First of all, thank for sharing information. After I forwarded this link to dealer, then they said the problem is fixd However, nothing has been improved at the time of test drive. Basically, dealer said there is nothing they can do, and wait for checkup for Lexus tehnician for next step. The car was dealer locaton for 10days and the technician did numberous test, but it failed,,,,

This wind noisy pull out completely driving enjoyment . Should I consider to claim Lemon law

Just curious as to what year model you all have that experience this wind noise problem. I am new and am shopping for a new car, never owned a Lexus before.

Does not mean the knowledge is obsolete... I'm sure someone will respond.

The model year for those people who posted back in 2012 could have only been for a 2013 model. If wind noise in a 2013 model is his only concern, then he is golden...
