I have 5000 + miles on my F Sport. Mileage is still about 16 city and 21 highway with premium gas. Any suggestions as how to improve gas mileage? Dealer has no suggestions except to use premium.

Same for me, although I've been driving in the city since the last fill-up in Sport + mode and have been seeing an average of 17 mpg.

I am still on my first tank of gas on my F-Sport, but the computer says I am getting 24.2 MPG with 100% city driving. I am curious to see what I really am getting with my first fill up.

I am at 5000+ and the average for the car is 23.2. Got about 26.5 mpg on the way out to Colorado.

I hate stop-start crap. So annoying.

I am at 1250 miles and I am averaging about 21 - 22.5 per gallon on mix driving. My real test will this weekend drive up to Santa Fe, NM. I am hoping to see that 28 MPG as advertized on Highway driving.

4,000 miles...trip from MD to GA got about 28.5 mpg. Around town, around 20. Keep it set in "normal"mode.

1,800+ miles on my GS350 AWD Luxury sedan. Getting about 20-21 MPG combo city/highway driving. My best MPG, according to what the car is telling me, was 35.2 MPG.

I must have been going downhill for a long stretch.

Not sure if it's possible, but it appears that I get better gas mileage in Sport+ mode.

This thread surprises me somewhat. With just less than 1000 miles on my RWD 4GS I'm getting 24-25 MPG mixed, 50% freeway/50% city streets, and close to 30 MPH highway. I use Normal Mode 99% of the time. I also enjoy the full capabilities of the car...I don't "baby it."

What type of gas do you use? I've been using 91 octane for the most part, as this seems to be the highest available in SoCal. Maybe I should be trying other brands? I have over 5k, do mostly city, but close to 50/50 and have a lifetime average of just 18.

I have done comparative tests with 91, 89, and 87 octane fuels (Kroger) and see no difference in fuel economy or performance at all. I have tried to listen for any knocking using 87 octane under load, but have had no success in hearing any. I will be heeding the warnings in the Owner's Manual and use 91 octane although any fuel economy deviation using lower octane fuels has been minimal in my experience.

I would recommend heeding this statement in the Owner's Manual:

"You must only use unleaded gasoline in your vehicle.

Select premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91

(Research Octane Number 96) or higher required for optimum engine

performance. If 91 octane cannot be obtained, you may use unleaded

gasoline with an octane rating as low as 87 (Research Octane Number

91). Use of unleaded gasoline with an octane rating lower than 91 may

result in engine knocking and significantly reduced performance. Persistent

knocking can lead to engine damage and should be corrected

by refueling with higher octane unleaded gasoline.

At minimum, the gasoline you use should meet the specifications of

ASTM D4814 in the U.S.A. and CGSB3.5-M93 in Canada."
.

My first tankful with mixed city/hwy resulted in 25.5 mpg and it's held pretty consistent for 3000 miles now. I use mid-grade.

The lighter colored cars clearly get better gas mileage.
