Default Paint Protection Film?

Any opinions on protection film? I have had Xpel in the past.

Debating on the new GS.

I would say do it. I had the dealer put mine on and they did a pretty nice job. Can not even tell unless you look really closely. I've got some headlight films ordered that I will be putting on myself to protect from rock chips and sand blast. I'm just curiuos, why would you do it for your previous cars and not for the GS?

3M Venture Shield could be an option as well over 3M Scotch Guard.

I have it on both my 911 and wife's Escalade.

Wouldn't buy a new (expensive) car without it.

The reason I was considering not doing it was the line was so obvious on a darker car. Now with the Liquid Platinum, maybe it wouldn't be as noticeable. I guess I could go for full hood instead.

I have had 2 previous GS models (2002, 2007) both have had XPEL. It did protect the car very well.

If you have it custom wrapped, not a kit, you won't see any lines at all. All the seams are wrapped underneath...grill, headlight, etc.. It's very expensive but it's custom.

Yeah, I could do that.

Does anyone think that the "line will show up less on a lighter car?

I have VS on my red 4GS. Not very noticeable at all. To be honest, I don't even care if you notice it a bit. Much better than a single chip. It's noticeable if you look for it, but for the average person not noticeable while parked/driving by.

I just had the 3M paint protection film installed on my Starfire Pearl GS F Sport yesterday and I'm totally impressed with how seamless the film is with the rest of the car. When I went to pick it up, my first reaction was "What the heck, I don't see it!" On further inspection I noticed it was in fact installed and I was 100% excited about the fact that it was that difficult to notice.

The film comes with a 5 year warranty against and discoloration, bubbles, peeling, etc where all labor and material costs are fully covered. This is the first car I've had this done to, but I'm almost positive it will not be my last.

Go full hood/fenders tucked. The line looks cheesy.

Any good quality job will run you 1500

I didn't know full hood was an option, but I'll definitely consider that in the future.

+1 - can't hurt. I knew it was an option, but seemed like overkill. But now some birdpoop has damaged my 9 day old car and I regret it. But if I go hood, what's stopping me there? Trunk and roof too? Side panels?
