Availability has been my biggest issue. Within 500 miles and three exterior colors there isn't but one F sport with ML audio. It's really the only option I require.

fly2nite - you nailed it - "availability". I just bought a '14 GS F-Sport AWD. I live in central PA and after a long search for a F Sport ended up driving 3+ hours to a dealer north of NYC for an excellent CPO with lowish (25K) miles. I did look for a F Sport AWD with ML but only found two, and they were in Texas, albeit with a price over $3K above what I paid. Plus, I had to get the car up here by flying down and driving back or having it shipped. To me the F Sport was WAY more important than the stereo. I have had a couple people in the car that said they normally don't notice car stereos, but thought the GS one (the "premium" one) was exceptional good. So apparently the base stereo is, at least, a half-step up from a Lear Jet 8-track with Sanyo speakers...LOL.

It's up to the regional dealers. Texas is a huge Lexus market and leasees want them fully loaded, so dealers order them with ML, HUD and all the bells and whistles. It really depends on what part of the country you are in.

If I remember correctly, the ML upgrade also means more speakers installed in the car? It is a really nice option to have but holy sh-t, it is expensive. I bought mine used and it had everything I need and want. Try to find it used but over 1k for it is too much for a new GS.

I have the 2013 F Sport RWD with the Standard F Sport Audio system. I have always enjoyed the system and was quite impressed from the start on how much it can take and I listen to my music LOUD. A friend just picked up a 2016 IS with the ML. It sounds way better. If I had it to do over I would have spent the upgrade price. Its like anything else, you get used to it and you always want bigger, better. You would not be able to reproduce the sound with an aftermarket upgrade for less than what it costs for the upgrade, so go for it from the start. The fact that you are asking the question means you care so just do it and then you will have no "I should have's" in the future.

How many speakers does the non ML system have on a 16 Gs?I can't seem to find it on Lexus's website.Has any one bought a 2016 GS without the ML system? There are a few F sports on local lots near me but not many with the ML system.I am trying to decide if i need it or not.
