only reason they could not before was poor trunk in GS450h.

GSF right now is as valid as an ISF track edition or the "GTF". Don't hold your breath.

If lithium ion batteries are used the hybrid would costs much more than the V8 (unlike now where they're about the same price). Also trunk space is compromised with the hybrid (although this should be lessened if Lexus uses lithium ion batteries). There is still a place for a V8 until pricing and size of batteries gets smaller.

If Lexus is serious about keeping up with the German competition it'll need to give its customers all the different choices they can get. The V6 hybrid will be for the green people who want a luxury performance car, while the V8 hybrid will be for the luxury performance car people who want to pretend to be green. There's something for everyone.

From what I know the GS engine lacks direct injection. If that's added they have an instant 380hp

Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw on a LX the other day. It was green with white text and said

"My car's not green but my sticker is"

Yes. 342hp isn't much in this segment anymore and its only 2 more than a 450h. We have surmised it is due to the LS having dual intakes and the GS only one. Thus my saying hopefully it gets the full 380hp like the LS has.

At least.

the price of gs460 and gs450h are pretty much the same

trunk is an issue, which is something i believe will be further improved in future model

Way too much speculation but here is my version
The current gs450h is dropped...
new line up
BARGAIN GS gs250 or gs270 with around 220-250 horses epa 21 28
gs300h - hybrid version using the 2.5L I4 engine and electric motor epa 32 30
gs370 - current engine bored to produce around 330 hp epa 19 25
GS-F BRING IT ON epa WHO CARES

That is false. It does have direct injection. That's an old misconception.

The GS460 has a reconfigured version of the LS' 4.6L 1UR-FSE engine. The "S" designation in the engine code signifies Direct Injection.

Here's my gallery of the 2008 GS460 in Matador Red. This one had all the options including ****, but without radar cruise.

What is funny is how Nissan and Honda fans clowned the GS 450h and it was stupid and.....
Nissan will have the hybrid fuga/M37 next year
Honda will have the RL hybrid next go round

I believe Lexus will upgrade the GSh to Lithium-ion batteries which cost more. Trunk space is too important in the luxury sector for the hybrid to be only the upmarket engine option (outside of the F). Even with improved packaging the GSh would still have less space than a standard GS.

Agreed on the part that there's too much speculation, but with you're plan there's no room for an ES hybrid or the ES in general. I can see a GS250 and 300h outside of the US but in the US, I'm thinking the lineup will look similar to how it does today, with the addition of an F model.
