LA traffic killed my brakes. I only had 22K miles when I swapped the front ones and they were under 2mm thin!! I do drive my car a bit hard most of the time. I like to feel the sportiness of the FSport.
If ur pads are still thick just leave it alone. U can see it with the flashlight, through the wheel spokes without removing it. My rears are still thick though, those can probably last 50K miles or more.
Ok then... grabbing my flashlight and heading to the garage...
As ItzFilyO mentioned earlier, you'll hear a screeching noise letting you know the break pad service life is at its end. The little metallic piece on the break pad (highlighted in the red box below) is what makes contact with the rotor and produces the noise. Unfortunately, no automated sensor indicating break wear on the dash.
So THATS what that looks like!!! Thanks for sharing!
Did this change at some point (in general, not necessarily on the GS)? Long ago I was told the wear indicator was more of a pin that popped out and rubbed when you wore through the pad where the pin was. Maybe that's old-school first gen wear indicator?
