This is a 275 tire and the clearance behind that inner fender tab. No issues and room to spare... Do you think I can fit a 285, same tire, without rubbing??? It looks like it would be close but maybe possible. The new tire will be .39" wider. Thoughts???
Definitely. Don't wider tires affect inner more than outer? You'll be fine
I think you're right, it looks like there's just enough space. I was concerned with the outer width coming out more toward that fender liner and rubbing if/when the suspension compresses to that point.
any current pics with the coils on? If you stiffen them up a little, then you dont have to worry about rubbing with passengers and/or going over bumps.

This is the current height, you cant really see the tires/fender gap too well. Theres about a finger gap between the tire and fender. Got the RSR best*i set to 1 click before full stiff already
I think im gonna go for it and try the 285 tire
Its probably fine as-is but do what you need to make it fit, those tires as is are way too narrow for that wheel.
Yeah it really is fine as it is, the change would be only for cosmetic reasons to lessen the slight stretch on the rear. In fact I've also been checking to make sure the change wouldn't induce any increased felt understeer.. Answers came back with that small of a change I should still be good.
The tire really isn't too narrow..I would personally not go any more thin in the back (thats why I want to try a 285) although many do. If you check common specs for the 4gs you'll find 19x9+35 with 245/40/19 and 19x10.5 +45 with 275/35/19 (same ratios for 20s also) is a very widely used setup. Even GSF running 10.5 with 275. I'm into canyon driving, handling suspension stuff and the setup has been great.
