Default 15 Gs350 problems

Howdy Lexus Fam,

I’ve had my GS for a good 2 years now I bought it PreOwned

& when I tell y’all I love the car it’s been AMAZING. Everything has been just great. I added my little touch ups (Chrome Delete, Blue Calipers, Black Badges)

it’s an awesome car.

But now I’m really starting to hate it because of all the stupid knickknacks Lexus didn’t do a good job with.

thanks to this forum It help me understand what was going on with the car.

first thing was the little kick when I’m driving on the freeway that turns out to be a bad steering rack from Lexus.

for the last few days I kept hearing clunks out the blue but I cap ignoring it thinking it was my imagination or potholes. turns out it’s the damn seal for the sunroof. I tried to open it today for the first time in a while because it’s been cold and I heard a big old thump.

honestly is this car even worth keeping at this point ?? if it’s not one thing it’s another I don’t wanna feel like I bought A Lexus to keep fixing their issues.

before you ask sadly the car is out of warranty. Our local dealer here is the worst when it comes to customer satisfaction.

A damn lift a truck sounds good right now

hmm not sure about the 1st issue but the 2nd one has been mentioned and addressed by many members here at ClubLexus. I suggest you do a quick search - should get you all the info you need to fix it on your own.

Are you maybe just tired of the car? I know I used to switch cars very often. Your car looks great, btw.

I have been tempted to start a Thread like this myself. A long time Lexus Owner of many. Own a 2013 GS350 Lux with 34k miles. So a Fuel Pump now needed. AVS..... recently found out Struts leaking, and other little unnecessary things going bad. ex. The Fuel pump issues - each one has the same fuel pump motor problem. Some covered some not? Go figure? On my 13 only 34k Struts gone bad. $2k + to fix.

I still love my GS and will be keeping it, but my 2013 ES350 has 148k miles. Still drives like day 1 when I bought it, and like Zero problems with the ES350. Last week noticed the outside power Mirrors having problems moving different ways.

Not anymore, sell it or traded in for much better and quality vehicle, GS has little value in today's market and outside of few enthusiasts looking for an obsolete sports sedan, not much interest hence the killing of the line. Lexus has fallen so far behind and lacks any innovation and company is going south. If it weren't for the RX and ES Lexus would be a dead brand right now. With Toyota Parent company making the real bread, its a luxury brand that is getting crushed by the competition right now. They think innovation is adding Apple Car Play and calling it a day.

Yes get rid of it. No point of keeping something that irks you day in and out.

I'm a huge GS fan, but if the car was bringing me more irritations than pleasure, I would part with it.

I know there have been a few threads about steering/steering rack issues in the past...

The sunroof related rattling /seal issue is a simple fix: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...s-the-fix.html

I think sometimes we get spoiled by Toyota/Lexus thinking that every issue is a big problem because "I bought this car for reliability...If not, i could've just bought a BMW, Benz, etc." Most people have positive experiences with the GS but their have been a few poor ones as well.

You can't put a price on peace of mind - if you're having issues that cause some anxiety, and you're not willing to fix it out of warranty, it might be time to look into a replacement.

If I could have taken a pic of every BMW 5 years and older that I had to repair.

Not sure what magic plastic they use that turns into powder on all their cooling systems, but someone engineered awesome driving and maintenance into them.

That blacked out trim is *********** cold!

Dude, All things designed by humans have the same principles as humans.
All things will age, they won't be like they were when they were younger, flaws must be present because no flawless human exist to inspire design from.

Relax. Also the same piece of rubber on the roof wears the same on just about every car lol. You'd be doing this repair anyway no matter the brand.

You mean you were too stingy to buy a new car and you don't like paying repair bills on an 8 year old car?

I think you should sell the car, those $50 sunroof seals really start to add up. And the 20 minutes to install it, my godfather!

Then buy an 8 year old BMW and fix their issues. Buy a Honda or an Audi and fix their issues. And here I was thinking that an old luxury car would cost nothing to own!

FYI KYB struts are only $80 each.

2013 GS 450h here bought used in May 2019. One 12V battery and one sun roof seal so far. Only have driven 10k miles in 44 months of ownership, so maybe I do not notice anything broken. On the other hand, I just want a car to start when I “turn the key”, and go and brake when I press the pedals. Remember, it is only transportation from here to there. Oh yeah, my mystery ML audio no sound problem has not occurred since Thanksgiving. Just waiting that one out to see when it appears again. Then I can come complain about the vehicle. Though I do admit, sometimes it is nice to drive with only your thoughts and no other sounds since I find the GS very quiet.
