Default Steering Wheel Install

I recebtly bought an elvin steering wheel, do you guys think its worth for someone to do this diy or just have someone do it for you? Ive talked to some shops they offered to do around 300 bucks to install it, ive heard them say things like you have salvage the buttons and stuff and it takes a lot of time, but ive seen install done pretty quickly on these, just to give a headsup , i never turn a wrench in my life , but i did do the sound generator delete. Thats it. Tell me what you guys think. I apologize for the format , mobile...

I have a carbon steering wheel that I put on about a year ago. Extremely easy to do and definitely worth saving the $300. I did it in maybe an hour? Just don't rush it and you'll be fine.

Hardest part is yanking off the OEM steering wheel. Make sure you do a workout to build up your arm muscles Seriously it will take only 5 min

Or you can buy a tool that screws into the steering wheel and puts pressure against the center shaft(were the nut was on) and pops the wheel off when you tighten it. That's what I did to make taking the steering wheel off easy.

Our GS shares the same steering wheel as the RX from the previous generation.

I found 2 bamboo ones on eBay. The GS controls and buttons/trim you swap over. I do like the look and feel of the bamboo steering wheel, but do note the heated part of the bamboo wheel is reduced, only the leather part is heated. I kind of like it that way so my entire hand is not heated.

Here is one for $150 with best offer:

Here is one for $97.98:

Any idea if swapping from a Luxury wheel to an F-Sport wheel would work, heating wise? I like the F-Sport wheel better but wasn’t sure if the heated part would just swap right over, or if there is more to it.

Most F Sports have a heated steering wheel.

Well in that case he could just swap the steering wheel with and f-sport one that's heated.

Agreed, I don't see any reason why he couldn't do that.

I prefer the perforated leather grips on the F Sport wheel but prefer the nice, stitched center hub on the Luxury models (2016+).

I like the hub also but I don’t grip the hub. It’s nice to look at but I definitely miss the feel of the F-Sport wheel. And on cold mornings like today, that wood is damn cold!

Peasodos, the wheel on ebay looks like it has more buttons on it than our GS wheel has. The right side phone/talking buttons specifically. If you swap the GS buttons/trip over, what happens to the buttons on the steering wheel that are not used by the GS steering wheel? Or am I not looking at this correctly? Also, did you find the wood wheel was better than the all leather wrapped one, or just looked different and matched the interior trim. Part of me wants to do it just to do it, but don't know if I gain anything. Live in Florida, so heated steering wheel not that important. Thanks.
