On later models the parking fresh system will automatically select fresh air introduction mode to enhance ventilation and reduce any odor remaining in the air conditioning unit, thus odor during system start-up is minimized.
Which year is your vehicle? The parking fresh system is news to me, what years is that available on?
On my 2016, since there is no direct ac compressor on or off button, I turn off the ac and auto modes in the software options and then use the physical buttons to control the compressor on and off and where the active intake is. It's a pain but a necessity in a hot and humid environment nearly year round (South Florida).
Mine is a 2014. I'm not sure about the GS, but I know that parking fresh is definitely on the 2018 LC and beyond. The ES300h has it as well. It doesn't mention it by that name in the OM, it just says "When parking, the system automatically switches to outside air mode to encourage better air circulation throughout the vehicle, helping to reduce odors that occur when starting the vehicle." If your OM has that statement, then you got it.
This system is called "Parking Fresh Control" in the Repair Manual and accompanying New Car Features manual.
Yeah we are not so lucky here in the GS forum. Hyundai also had a press release a couple of years ago which detailed a system that automatically runs the fan after the vehicle is turned off to pull fresh air to the evaporator core. This is something that could easily be done on the GS with a simple software update if Lexus wanted to.
I think we have the Parking Fresh Control in the GS cause I can hear it switched from recirculation to outside after parking the car and shutting off the engine. It's the same sound u hear when u press the switch manually but very faint, so unless ur in a quiet area u won't hear it.
I've been meaning to do this for my car as well as there's also that unpleasant smell in the summer times.
For the method where you spray through the cabin filter area, do you just remove the cabin filter and insert the straw from the can in there? From what I understand the blower fan sits directly below the cabin filter so I'm not quite sure how the process would work there. Was thinking of using a can of nextzett Klima-Cleaner off amazon to do that.

Yes you should stick it through the air filter area then through the blower fan blades as far as you can and that should be fairly close to the evaporator core.
I bought the Klima Cleaner but haven't used it yet, the alcohol method from the fresh air intake worked for me paired with 30-45 minute maintenance blasts of full heat when I get a lingering smell.
Stop running on recir interior air. I never ever run it for this reason and never had this problem.
Once it happens, it's very hard to permanently keep from coming back, and it does suck to smell. Both the GS Heat and A/C are excellent and will run just as good on exterior fresh air coming in. Interior only also give some ppl a headache also. It does me.

I try to do that but sometimes the fumes from trucks etc.. can become overwhelming so I switch it back to recirc. Also when it's nearly 100 degrees and 100% humidity, the system works much better when on recirc.

I was not specifically responding to you. Yes I have to switch for old trucks and odors too. But there is also a setting in Climate to auto detect and go to Cir then switch back. Also I think that even when its hot if you have a good clean filter in and use the Fresh outside setting there is no difference. I am in Atl and it gets very hot and humid here.

I have the smog sensor set to max and it still doesn't switch over very well. It's much hotter here than Atlanta, it just dosent cool as quickly in these peak summer temps, even right now it's 22 degrees warmer.
