Default Pothole...

So I recently hit a pothole, 2 of the wheels are apparently bent said the advisory, luckily i have the tire and wheel protection, so the tires are all covered replaced 2 of them for 700 (Free) , but apparently the wheels are not due to "not losing air" damage yet, so I would either need to cough up 1500 to replace 2 wheels or go aftermarket...

Lexus gs 350 F sport 2015

What do you guys think i should do... should i go after market ? if so, would you do the same size of the tires from the OEM ?

if you like OE wheels you can probably find cheaper ones on sale on this forum. also, some bent wheels can be repaired for a couple hundred.

Sell the 2 good OEM wheels and buy an aftermarket set if you can't pickup an oem 2nd hand set

I don’t understand, you paid extra for wheel & tire protection. They should honor any issues you have without the hassle. I would try to bump it up to someone more senior at the dealership.

What does the "Wheel" part of the "Wheel and Tire" protection you bought cover? Sounds odd to me that they wouldn't warranty the wheel...but then again, you always have to read the fine print as I've heard there are different levels of coverage.

I'd go to a good local wheel/tire shop and have them straighten the bent wheels. Should be around $100 per wheel. On my IS350, I had 3 out of the 4 original 17" OEM alloys straightened. On my current '13 GS350, i've had 2 of the OEM wheels straightened.

No real need to replace them unless the wheel shop tells you there is structural damage or the wheels are too weak to sustain a repair.

I've had all 4 of my wheels replaced under tire and wheel warranty, it's great coverage. The warranty is explicit that it will only replace the rim/wheel if and only if the the tire is unable to keep its pressure. If your rim is bent but it holds pressure, too bad it is not covered. But if is bent and can't hold air pressure, they will replace it with a brand new rim. I've also had my tires replaced due to nails and other road debris. Warranty paid itself over many folds.

It is getting so bad here in town with potholes that I don't even want to drive mine locally. Most of my driving will be on the highway for now on. You literally have to dodge holes just to hit another one. I'm so envious of you guys that don't live in the rust belt.

Default Potholes

I tried to fill a pothole with my car about 2 weeks ago. Just had new tires installed 4 weeks prior. Ruined a tire and broke the wheel bearing. New parts and another alignment, $1,100. Be careful out there!

I would second the getting the wheels repaired at a good local shop. Ask rim shops who they use to repair their wheels and use them. It doesnt take long to repair, 1-2 hours its very cheap, looking at 75-150 bucks per wheel. I have had many wheels repaired, they will spin it infront of you the before and after.

Report it on your states website, there is a form. If its been reported enough times, long enough. The state pays!
