It's begun
All this new rumor says to me is that Lexus is retooling its assembly plants to start production of the new 5th gen GS.
The Tahara Plant has already been retooled and has started production of the 2018 LS500. Going into the future Toyota wants to be able to build several different vehicles on the same assembly line. The LS, LC, GS, and IS will all share Toyota’s new GA-L platform. At some point they have to stop production of the current GS to retool the plant for the newly redesigned one.
Im sure European dealers have enough GS’s in inventory to get them through to the fall.
for example purposes Toyota unveiled the RAV4 concept in December 2017 and the production model was already ready to show off in March 2018 only 4 months later.
The same strategy will most likely occur with the 5GS. Show the GS concept at Frankfurt or Paris and debut the production model a few months later at Pebble Beach or Los Angles Autoshow.
