High mileage folks, how's it going?
My lease on my CT is up in July and I'm looking at purchasing a used 14' 15' 4th Gen GS F-Sport. I drive 60-70 miles a day for work and I'm just curious to see how everyone with higher (ish) mileage is doing, say 90k plus? I plan on keeping this car for 4 or 5 years so I'm just curious if there is anything major that seems to be a frequent issue. Thanks in advance:thumbup:
Edit: I realize the longevity of the brand as whole is quite amazing, again; just curious:) |
92k and still kicking! Haven't had any major issues.
Here's a thread about this topic: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...=881088&page=3 |

i have 63k miles on my car just changed sparkplugs everything is working fine i just recently bought the lexus warranty with 5 years unlimited miles warranty so i have until 2025 till my warranty expires unlimited miles. I would definitely recommend the warranty. My seat motor went out and it was just replace with the warranty it was costing $700.00 warranty came in clutch.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea, thanks for the advice!

Going from a CT to GS is a huge upgrade, but if you haven't already considered it, you better be aware that your fuel costs are going to go up at least 2x(possibly 3x in stop and go traffic) over the CT accounting for premium gas and gas mileage.

My girl's 4GS is at about 68K right now and it's also mostly highway driving. She DD's it to work which is about 35-40 miles a day and we also take the car on long trips (3-6 hours, once or twice a month) since it's more comfortable than the other cars we have. It also gets driven on week nights and weekends whenever we go out too. No hiccups at all. I think with proper maintenance, it should last like every other Lexus.
Just be confident in the car, and make sure you thoroughly inspect it... Or have one of your mechanic friends at the dealer do that for you. |
This is my second Lexus and I say believe the pundits, critics and owners. It is as reliable as everyone says it is. My other was a 2000 LX 470 and it was mostly bulletproof until I traded it in. My GS has been mostly trouble free. If this was a BMW (for example, I've owned two in the past), I would've traded it in a long time ago because of constant trips to the shop, driving a crappy loaner every other week, etc.

I'm sitting on just about 54k miles on my '13 (it was an early build that was registered in Apr 2012). No complaints...its always an absolute pleasure to drive it near or far. |
I have over 90,000 miles and no issues. I DD the GS and its always been good to me. I recently started into the larger maintenance items like spark plugs, diff fluids, coolant and transmission fluid. Everything looks/feels normal so far.

I appreciate everyone's input. Thanks! I will more than likely be buying private party to stay within my budget. It may not end up being an F-Sport but that is what I'm shooting for.

I just hit 80k. No issues. Love this car.
Of course I had no issues with my GS430 up through 190k, so I am probably going to do that again. |
I bought a used 2013 F-Sport with 75,xxx miles. Still no major issues at 104,xxx miles. Only things I’ve needed to fix were the moonroof rattling ($50 seal + 30min) and the driver side power window switch panel rattle ($0 with electrical tape I had laying around + 5min). |
2013 with 65K. I replaced one upper control arm, the ball joint was gone. I blame our NYC roads for that. I also replaced a belt, belt tensioner pulleys, water pump and a generator.
