Default Tire repair question

I have the 2013 Lexus GS350 F sport AWD. The rear tire at the driver side got 2 nails very close (7 mm ). The discount tire told me they could not fix it since the two nails are too close and have to replace it. is it true?

My tires are Goform gh18 235 40/ZR19, the tires are pretty new and I can only replace one tire. can I replace with a 235 40/R19? what is the difference of ZR and R? I even could not find the Goform 235 40/ZR19 online.

Thanks

Z stands for the rating, and I think R is radial. Perhaps they are just labeled differently, I would see if the new one is a Z rating tire as well. You can look up the new tire and double check the rating. Also I'm relatively new to AWD but you may want to doublecheck that a new tire tread is about the same as the existing. I don't know if AWD if a newer tire is paired with tires that are more used if it causes any diameter differences for the AWD, that amount may be so small it might not matter, but maybe some others will chime in.
