Default Need help identifying clear protective trim

The L-shaped clear protective trim that is installed on the GS350s in the rear door opening is collecting dirt under it on my vehicle. I would like to replace them and have the following questions.....

Is it best to remove them with heat?

What exactly are they called? I did a lot of searches which only resulted in door edge guards.

Where can I purchase them online?

Thank You!

I would try and remove them with steam first. Good luck.

I peeled mine right off. There was a bit of sticker residue left but that was easily removed with glue gone.

Once you got the old ones off...how tough was it to put new ones on? Is it a dry (peel and stick) or wet application?

Thanks in advance

What is the purpose of this trim? To protect the rear door when closing? I have it on my car which is also collecting dirt, and was considering just removing it altogether.

Having looked at many cars newer cars (sedans) over the last few days to assess the importance of these PPG strips, I'm really beginning to think that these are on the 4th generation GS to protect against things rubbing the paint off those areas from the entry / exit of passengers or cargo into the back seat through the rear doors. The edges that these strips protect don't stick out past the leading rear door edges they are next to, so I find it hard to believe theses areas get pelted by sand or road debris thrown back from the front tires.

Obviously, I am not the Lexus engineer that decided to put them there...it's just my 2 cents.

I have this on my car in same spot as well as mirrors and hood, possibly bumper. My issue with the hood one is its really scratched and looks pretty bad. Might just have a shop replace it if its difficult to apply.
