1) does the back seat fold down for bigger items

1) No, the rear seat does not fold down. There is, however, a small pass through for skis or other long, narrow objects.

2) This one is a matter of opinion. Some people prefer the 6 speed, and others the 8.

1) No, theres only a ski pass through in the center arm rest. 2) I believe they made the 8spd to compete with other cars in its class (BMW, Mercedes etc.) It supposed to improve the fuel efficiency. Same HP/Torque so no performance gain.

When I bought my last vehicle, it was the last year of a certain motor/tranny combo, I did not want to buy the first year of something new. 2013 was the last year of the 6spd, so my thought is it is probably pretty trouble free.

Damnit about the seat folding down. I need that for my home depot runs.

Does the LS fold down....I will ask in that forum....but if you know???

The 8 speed was used in other Lexus models before coming to the GS, so either should be fine from a reliability standpoint.

And no, the LS rear seat does not fold down. Only the IS rear seat.

You are correct. I should have been more specific that I was only referring to Lexus sedans.

I have IS250 2012 also mine don't fold. Also I don't think GS would be a suitable car for Home Depot trips look for GX460 or LX570.

Yep, GS350 F-sport for daily driver and fun driving and my GX470 for off road and Home Depot.

Go buy a Tacoma if you're a Home Depot personal contractor. Highest resale value in the entire automotive industry. I wouldn't let a raggedy edged 2x4 near the leather in my car.

Drive it for a year or two while you rebuild your house, then sell it for stupid money and get a CPO GS dirt cheap.
