another staggered wheel question
 

Sorry, I know these questions come up all the time...

I just swapped my 2013 GS 350 F Sport for a 2013 GS 350 AWD Luxury. Went from 90k miles on old car to 30k on new.

that being said, I need new wheels asap. Going with XO Caracas 19x8.5 (wheel) 245/40/19 (tire) in front;
19x9.5 rear (wheel) 275/35/19 (tire) rear

it is a .4% difference in tire size. Anyone see an issue? Anyone have a similar set up? Last thing I need are issues because I put about 23k per year in mileage. thanks!

Same tire size setup here. No issues. The extra meat on the tires make the ride more planted and smoother, IMHO.

thanks. just emailed my guy at lexus and he told me staggered wheels will void my warranty....guess no staggered wheels for me. sux

lmao staggered wheels shouldn't void warranty. Ask him how long he has worked there. As long as your overall diameter is the same with the tires you will be fine. The widths have nothing to do with the AWD system

he's actually worked there for like 25 years, but I'll ask again

i had issue with my old car i had a infiniti FX35 AWD on GTR wheels then all a sudden a year later i had transfer case issue and dealer wouldn't fix the issue even if i had warranty on it

When I had my AWD IS350, I spoke to my personal mechanic, he said that differences in sizes/overall rolling diameter can occur even with one tire being worn down more than another which will cause small percentages of differences. He said the differential is there for a reason and typically most AWD cars are built to withstand some level of differentiation.

I then spoke to Lexus Corporate about changing out the non-staggered 17x8 wheels for the RWD IS350 18x8 and 18X8.5 staggered wheel/tire setup. They said they do not recommend this as the AWD car was not "tested" for long-term use with this set up. They didn't say it would void my CPO warranty but I didn't ask either...

I was planning to run 225/40/18 all around with a slight tire stretch in the rear to avoid the "stagger" but the seller rejected my offer on eBay for the wheels...eventually got a GS instead :D

I guess the bottom line is that so many people on the forums have run AWD staggered set ups with no issues it becomes more of a personal choice...but if something goes wrong, you would never be able to use the "everyone else does it" excuse when trying to get something fixed under the dealer warranty...

Interesting...Just curious as to the reason the dealer gave you as to why he wouldn't fix the transfer case under warranty? Did they somehow know that you were running a non OEM/non stock fitment for the FX?

agree...it's personal choice...not sure if I'm ready to roll the dice. I have 3 year unlimited warranty and that is more important (to me) than a nice staggered look.

Anyone know if 3rd generation GS wheels will fit on 4th gen? I have some OEM GS 350 wheels I had chromed back in the day sitting in my garage and I'm thinking I might just put them on my '13 GS.

why would you put 3rd gen wheels on a 4th gen?

because i like them 1000 times more than the ones they put on the luxury GS

All OEM 3GS wheels will fit with no problem the 4GS. I believe the 3GS came with 17X8 and 18X8 wheels in non-staggered fitments each with an offset of 45.

The 4GS AWD models come with the following stock sizes:
17X8 et 45
18X8 et 45
19X8 et 45

I've seen a few 4GS's with the five spoke 2008-2011 GS Wheels. Even seen one with 2IS five spoke wheels.
