Every time I see a post like this I'm going to keep repeating that my sister just spent $5,000 for a new transmission in her seven year old Lexus RX 350. It has about 80,000 miles on it. So please, stop acting like Lexus' can't have expensive repairs out of warranty. Anyone who keeps any car over 100,000 miles should be prepared for expensive stuff going wrong. I agree that Japanese cars are the best, but there are plenty of stories for any car made anywhere.
Yeah, the difference is though is I bet the number of Toyota/Lexus/Honda/etc. cars having catastrophics (like a transmission or something else costing a 4 digit sum to fix) at under 250K are probably closer to the "statistically insignificant" part of the spectrum than many of their counterparts.
If you think that 100K is "a lot of miles" and that you should expect big things to blow up after that, you've been buying the wrong cars. Maybe that is a good guideline for Audi, VW, RR, Jeep, Mercedes product... ? [laugh]

So I guess you failed to read the FOUR posts on this thread where I specifically said that I know Japanese cars are more reliable.
Cool! Yeah they're nice vehicles. I'm not an SUV person for every day either, but its really nice to have one in the household. The ability to take it on trips, go anywhere you want to go, get up any driveway or path or whatever. Not having to worry about weather or snow...
I agree, and my wife is in LOVE with it. Happy wife.......
