Default Fix Driver's Side Window Control Panel Rattle

Just a quick tip.
If you are getting a loud obnoxious rattle on your window control panel when playing music you can do the following to remedy it:

1. Using trim removal kit, pry open the control panel from the front side (side closest to dash).

2. Cut out a towel or piece of cloth in the following forms:

3 Apply between control panel and car body, then snap the control panel back into place.

Voila, no more plastic on plastic crime in your car.

Went to dealer for 5,000 service and mentioned this issue but was practically ignored i guess since they were just trying to get the car out of there. Didnt want to spend more time taking it back to I decided to take matters into my own hands.

Good luck
Hope this helps

Thanks! Will surely help. Is the controls that easy to pop out? It's not held in by screws?

No screws, simply pry it open from the front, then use the tool on the opposite side and it will pop out

Them fools at the dealer actually did u a solid favor. U don't want them dealing with these kind of stuff man, trust me. It's either they'll send u home with more rattles or broken clips and scratches that u won't even notice until a few days later, then they'll deny all damages caused.

So u did the right thing by taking this matter into ur own hands. I would too!

Exactly, this is why I didnt bother asking them to take a look at it once I found out they didnt the first time. I know more about this car then most of the guys in there. When I pulled in to the dealer the valet guy was like "wtf? is that a GS-F?"
lmao

Just a small update for those who are experiencing the rattles on the door:

The rattles went away with 2 small pieces but then they came back, so it wasnt enough. I then had to cut a piece out that fit the entire length of the switch panel for extra padding throughout, to make sure all the contact points were properly padded.

Awesome tear down video!!

Only slightly related -- does anyone know of any videos or instructions for removing the interior portion of the door? Basically I want to remove the rest of the door, not just the control panel.

Edit: if we don't have a video yet, when I go through the process, I will try and document.

I did it a while ago but didn't have a video of it.

Buy some clips for the door panel first before u start tearin' cause those clips will most likely break when u pull them out and they lose strength so better to replace them all. Dealer can tell u how many u need for one door panel.

I had my dealer deal with this awhile ago. I thought it was a blown speaker at first. Dealer pointed out it was a window switches. If it comes back I'll reference this video.

i pulled out the switch and did the electrical tape fix and so far so good. That thing rattled so bad. I agree that it sounded like a blown speaker.
