Text msg on car's display?

Does anyone know if we can get text msg from a phone to show up on the car's display? or have it read out through the car's speakers?

What phone do you have? Apple or Android?

The car will read the message to you or you can read it on the display when the car is stopped.

If you have iPhone, you need to go to the bluetooth settings, click on the i next to your car's name and select show notifications.

Awesome! Thanks guys.

Have you guys tried Windows Phone? Cortana will read out your messages and it let's you reply without having to hit any buttons.

Also, it will do the same for email. If you find it acting up, i.e. your phone signals a text but your car doesn't know or won't retrieve the message list when you manually hunt through the menus via the car, you have too many messages.

I have a few friends that go on text bombing sprees and we'll have conversations for an hour, not a whole lot of text but a large number of them. Occasionally you'll need to clear these out. The car has a limit of 200 it can retrieve from the phone. So, if it's very slow to retrieve the message from your phone or just refuses to show it, wipe out those long message threads from your chatty Cathy friends.

I like Windows Phone. I tried a Lumia 1520 for a while but I had too many things tied up in iOS and wasn't able to fully transition. Glad to see Cortana works well in the GS. I might take a look at it again when Microsoft releases Mobile Windows 10.

That's awesome - I never even knew this feature existed.

To respond to texts:
with iPhone - press and hold briefly the "off hook" steering wheel button, Siri will come on and you can then say "respond text" or "text John Smith", Siri will acknowledge "what do you want to say to JS"
she will then read it back and ask if you want to sent it...yes...swoosh, "done"

With Android it is simpler but limited to the 15 canned, rewritten responses. You may edit each while parked for use while moving. Quick reply...choose...send

I tried this and nothing happened. Is there a specific setting on either the iPhone or the car that I have to activate? I can get my texts on the screen, but then all I can do is select from one of Lexi's canned responses.

I could never get this to work.. I have a galaxy note 4 running lollipop.

My 1520 WindowPhone text messages are read out, and I instruct verbally both my 3GS & 4GS.

However this voice activated texting does not work with my wife's Samsung Galaxy S5 in both 3GS & 4GS.

Anyone know if Google Android can be updated, or app downloaded to work with 3GS & 4GS Bluetooth?

My Blackberry Z30 works perfectly for texts and emails. 'Off hook' button answering like Apple works with Blackberry assistant also.

Check out this thread. A lot of questions answered. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...r-as-well.html
My iPhone 6 works great after deleting the text messages.
