So a few days ago I dodged one pothole and landed in the meanest SOB ever. It felt terrible made my teeth click car made this awful boom and I think I may have lost a piece of my soul. For the rest of the day I just left my car parked cried. Today I'm pumping gas and notice this...

The front driver side tire is done. My Pirelli is now pregnant, baby coming all out the sidewall. So now I'm scrambling to find a replacement. 235/40/19 hard to find in MA and if they do have them they're Continentals.

So did you damage the rim also? Cant really tell from your pic. Hope not.
Have you tried Tire Rack for a replacement Pirelli?

 

I hope not but I didn't really look at the rim. I was shock when I saw my tire. I just happened to glance over while fueling "like damn this car is filthy-OMG wtf is that!" I ordered them from treaddepot.com for $197/ea and they're out of stock and tirerack has them on backorder. The car rides fine and everything like that I just got nervous once I did some research on that type of tire injury. Especially since I usually have my 2yr old with me. Everybody around here is telling me about $325 installed and earliest I've heard they can have it is Monday. I might just eat that $325

I'm going to check the wheel now.

Well ended up ordering the last tire from Amazon for $220. I'm hoping that I'll be good until it arrives.

I didn't see any wheel damage.

 

I presume you do not have road hazard on the damaged Pirelli, so no help that tire dealer?

I would not drive the car with that damaged tire. No telling when it may suddenly let go and send you off the road or into other traffic. If you must drive it before the new tire arrives, consider running the spare tire or buying a used tire that is close to the same size and have it mounted up.

 

Sorry - I would not be driving that car even one mile without mounting the spare. If your wheel is not already damaged when the tire does let go, and it soon will by the looks of the damage, you could then ruin your wheel as well which will cost more than the tire.

I wouldn't use the spare in the snow. It looks like OP is driving on a lot of snow, so they won't be going that fast. The spare on the GS is a space saver and it probably has horrible traction/grip. It also limits speed too. Should be ok to drive short distances at lower speeds on the damaged tire. You were able to drive to tire shops and home, right?

 

You drive a 2 yr old around. Spare no expense for saftey(no pun intended). Eat the cost.

 

Driving on that tire even at "low speeds" is an accident waiting to happen. I would even get a budget rental if I had to. If a tire blew out at even just 40MPH it could be deadly for someone. Just one guys opinion though.

 

Damn that sucks, I've been trying to avoid potholes. You shouldn't worry so much just don't hit another pothole, and avoid driving really fast at the moment tell it's fixed. Try townfair tire in Walpole they usually match the price and get it quicker.

 

The problem I was having is actually getting the tire. They are on backorder from the dealer and nobody has them. I ordered the tire now waiting for it from CA. I should have it late this week. In terms of driving on it, not really much I can do about it right now I mean really the spare isn't meant to be really meant to be driven on either. Now that the T is back up I can keep my trips to a minimum until I can get the new tire on.

 

Yea I called the Town fair in Quincy he told me he had one in Delaware that he could get in about 5 business days. When I called to tell him to order I was left on hold for about 5mins so I hung up. I'm not really a big fan of town fair tire nor is my patience the best.
