Maintenance Question - 7K miles in 2.5 years
 

I bought my GS350 in 2012 of June. Have just a little above 7K miles. Which is only about 2800 miles/year. The only thing I did since owning the car was the complimentary oil change service that was done sometime in 2013 and another oil change 6 months ago. I only did about 1200 miles since my last oil change.

My Lexus dealership is called me today to schedule an maintenance appointment. Should I even bother?

I'm thinking the only things I need done are rotating tires, lubricating some stuff? :uh:

Oil changes are dictated by miles or time, whichever comes first.

Per the MY13 Lexus Scheduled Maintenance Log, you only need to change the oil every 10k miles or 12 months unless you drive under the following conditions:

In addition to standard maintenance items, vehicles that are driven under special operating conditions require further maintenance service. These special operating conditions, which put added demands on a vehicle, include:
• Driving on dirt roads or on dusty roads
• Repeated trips of less than five miles in temperatures below 32° F or 0° C
• Extensive idling and/or lowspeed driving for long distances, such as police, taxi or door-to door delivery use

The 6 month check ups look to be little more than fluid checks, tire rotation, and parts inspections. I'd probably skip it :p

Its good to check oil or replace after sitting cause it can still be dirty, you should do it yourself though. Check the cabin air filter sometimes sitting a while can create critters to brig things in.

I skip the 5K miles/6 months interval services. Waste of money to have them check stuff that they'll check in the 10K/1 year service. Can't even rotate tires on F-sports.

My first two are free. And you can rotate the tires on the AWD F Sport. I need new tires :( it snowed today and my summer tires on my RWD aren't cutting it.. Obviously.

I know the first 2 are free. I'm referring to the intervals afterwards.

Just change it whenever you reach 10k

(Do you fill up your car every other week even if you just drove 20 miles? ...or do you fill it up when it's empty?)

I'm another low miles driver: 2 yrs next week, with only 11.5 on the clock, and even lower rate ahead in retirement.

I did the free ones, but after that I just go once per year for whatever the scheduled maintenance is. I never rotate tires, and i can check tire pressure/fluid levels myself. I try not to let the tank go below half, to minimize condensation.
