The key to the Lexus GS is really lame

German luxury sport cars all have really nice keys to suit the vehicle. Lexus has a stupid bland boring key.

eh, i like the blue BWM one.. didn't audi have the flip out key? Would be cool if you jazz up the key with some carbon fiber or something...

When I got my car and the dealer handed me the key fob, I was really surprised. It looks cheap and does not match the Lexus brand at all.

mrpartsman 10-08-13 08:22 PM

it looks cheap, but FYI guys the MB , BMW and Audi keys are the number one broken keys, I am in the parts biz, and u guys cant blv how many phone calls I get for those crappy keys they made it just looks nice but man the cheapest **** they ever made.

another key related annoyance i have is that theres no key holder. Bmw has one by the cup holders, just a little place to put your key in while your driving. I dont like keeping it in my pocket and i dont like just keeping it in the cup holders, i might wanna put a drink in there later on and i might have a passenger in the car

i mean lexus has a great reputation of building reliable durable cars, maybe the key is apart of the whole durable/reliable system

Use the flip down small compartment to the left of the steering wheel. It holds the fob nicely.

Maybe I'm a sucker for gimmicks, but the keys for my 1991 Cadillac Brougham were 24k gold plated, with the Cadillac crest embossed.

Also those nice VW, Audi, Benz, BMW keys are nice looking, cheaply made junk.

This was the best key any german ever thought of. It was a standard ignition key, yet locked/unlocked the doors and popped the trunk. If the battery failed, there was still a standard lock on the front two doors and the trunk. It was very compact and extremely durable, I've never seen a "broken" BMW key of this style. Circa 1998 to 2005ish BMW key . . .

EDIT:

BTW, that key looks almost exactly like the key for my mom's $30,000 2012 Camry SE, loaded with every option.

bigblack06 10-09-13 04:19 AM

Ha the BMW key is massive, I do like the audi key. Although the key never leaves my pocket I could care less what the key looks like, if they want to make it look good give me a credit card key.

jucytec 10-09-13 05:12 AM

... it usually stays in the pocket so who cares?

unless you are hanging it on the mirror to constantly remind yourself, i don't see this being an issue.

Wow! Is this all you guys have to complain about?:egads:

Sorry..........couldn't resist.
