For the DIY'er : Jack Jaw
Figs just released this part and I'm sure there are some DIY'er who would love this. I don't know the dimension of this product but maybe FIGS can chime in when or if he see's this thread.
My GS won't go too low so I still can utilize this product. http://shopfigs.com/v1/image/cache/d...od-800x800.gif Hopefully, he ends up doing custom parts for our GS sometimes in the future. |
Does this fit on the pinch welds to spread the weight when jacking the vehicle? Do you have a link to a website for this product? I couldn't find anything using Google since the term "jack jaw" is common.

Great product!

I just received them today. Got a couple, just in case I lose one.
FIGS posted a vid. https://vimeo.com/61929987 |
I guess I don't get the use of this product. If this was such an issue, why do dealers not have this or auto manufacturers redesign this?

This is for the garage monkeys like me. Shops/dealers have lifts. |
Hi guys, just to chime in.
The factory jack points are designed for the scissor jack that is provided in the trunk and not the major method for servicing the vehicle. On the lift the frame rails are used at least in the front and I am not sure even where the dealer positions the pads on the rear. In our shop we use these on the rear while we lift on the frame rails. We also use them at the track to change wheels. The length is equal to the reinforced area of the frame rail that is intended to bear weight. This version is high enough profile to keep the jack off of the factory side skirts as well while still allowing a lower clearance jack to get under them. Most shops I interviewed use pieces of wood. As far as I can tell no one has come up with a solution and I just got sick of bending the frame rails on the FIGS IS-F and came up with this device after about a year of testing. Planning on different versions for different applications and will also look into something for jack stands. Mike |
