Loading CD's in Mark Levinson
 

I know I'm not the most technological guy in the world but I can't seem to get more than one CD into the Mark Levinson system? I could load six in my Acura with no problem. (also a Mark Levinson) Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Coz the 4GS one is not a cd changer...so only accept 1 disc at a time.

Consider ripping your CDs into iTunes on a computer (PC or Mac). Then, you can put them onto a player or storage device which your ML can readily access. If you have much music, I recommend an iPod Classic (I have the 160Gb) which you can synch with your iTunes. To keep the highest fidelity, I would rip in Apple Lossless Format and use the digital (USB) connection to your ML. I believe BlueTooth will also transfer the music digitally, but the control of songs by genre, artist, album, etc. is more more primitive than that provided when you use an "iPod" compatible device. Yeah its only a 1 disc CD player, most people use iPods/smart phones, bluetooth streaming, etc.

Like Will said, the control via Bluetooth is not quite as complete as with a cable, but its very good actually. Sound quality over Bluetooth is also excellent.

Wont be long and cars won't have CD players at all. I drove a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it has no CD player. If you want they will mount one in the console.

If you aren't someone who carries a smartphone, just go buy an iPod Nano, plug it into the car and leave it in there at all times.

Yes, this is the way to go. The best songs from my CDs have been transferred onto my iPod, and the CDs are now sitting in crates in my garage.

To the OP, it is a really simple and quick process to transfer CDs onto an iPod using your computer.

It's not that difficult to do; it IS a bit tedious. iTunes can "rip" your CDs (read the album/artist/song data and store it in digital format on a computer's hard disk) into Apple Lossless at rates around 8:1 (depending on drive speed). So an 80 minute CD will take about 10 minutes to rip. If you have a lot of CDs, try this: make sure your PC has two CD-reading drives (note DVD-burning drives can read CDs). Set the PC up where you watch TV or read books or just hang out. Fire up iTunes, load up the drives and rip away. Once one CD is finished, the drive will automatically eject the disk and switch to ripping the other one. Simply get up and replace the ripped CD one with a fresh one (you have a few minutes before the second rip finishes) and carry on. Within a few days, you can rip quite a few CDs. WARNING: once you have ripped all your CDs to disk, BACKUP the iTunes library containing them. Otherwise, WHEN (not if) you lose the disk, you will have to rip everything all over again.

Once you've got everything into an iTunes library, it's a snap to synch up an iPod with the tunes you want. You might consider setting up some playlists beforehand so you can easily access your songs via non-iPod access protocols and/or gizmos like Bluetooth or thumb drives, I don't do this because I use an actual iPod in my LS. Many users here and elsewhere can help you access your music once it has been ripped to disk. Good luck.

DVD-A's sound great with the ML Surround Sound system, but other than that...

True. You can get DVD-A discs encoded in 5.1 surround that sound awesome. I got one when I bought David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust reissue on vinyl. Came with the surround DVD in the case as a bonus. :woot:

DVD-A doesn't work in the 2014 model :(

No discrete DTS either, but 5.1 PCM streams still work great and sound awesome.

I just bought a 64 gb flash drive and leave that plugged into the usb port. Easy to navigate thru the folders and gracenotes recognizes the files if tagged correctly
