"LOUD" Power Tilt Steering Wheel

Been noticing lately after my car sits for at least an hour or so that the first time the Power button is pushed whether you're actually starting the car or not the Power tilt steering makes a very weird and loud actuating noise. :uh: If you then turn the power off and back on again, it's not nearly as loud as it is the first time after sitting. Has anyone else experienced this?

I will record this and post a video.

It would be helpful to hear other posts/videos of yours working please.

...here's the video.

You really need to pay close attention to the first time I press the Start/Stop button!!!

Is the steering wheel locked on the first time? Will it let you move it from side to side when the power is off or is it locked into position? It sounds like it is locked and is releasing causing the louder noise.

I think you're right. Mine sounds the same whenever the steering wheel is locked.

I haven't tried to see if its locked? Does the car automatically lock the steering wheel after a certain amount of time of the care being off? I can tell you when I stop my car it's always on level ground and the wheels is always straight. I know in older cars you had to turn the wheel left or right after shutting it off in order to get the wheel to lock. Is that the same for these cars?

I believe the wheel locks when you move it after the car is parked. I don't believe that ground being level has a factor. I typically grab mine out of habit when exiting which locks the wheel from time to time. To me it sounds normal.

For mine, if i depress the brake padel & press the start button the car will start & at the same time the steering & seat will move to the preset position.

But for mine sometimes right after u press the start button the seat & steering will move a little, then the car will crank start. During the crank start the steering & seat will stop moving for a moment then continues again to the preset position...Any guys have experience this before?

It happens sometimes only... Gonna observe the frequency.. Maybe it only happens during cold start when the battery is not as strong & all electrical stuffs starts operating at the same time that causes the seat & steering to pause for a moment. Dunno is it a sign of weak battery! But my car is only 3 months old :eek2: Maybe i got a lemon battery:cry::D

Sounds normal to me. Why not let your Lexus dealer check it out?

same here, Play... i get the same sound. i don't think it's anything to be concerned about. could be an unlocking mechanism, an actuator motor. i think it's normal. TBT i don't even hear it anymore, guess i've learned to ignore it.
