What do you think of the new ES vs GS style? To me, the new ES 350 has a very good looking body style with balance from front to rear compare to the GS F-sport. ES will have the same 3.5L V6 306hp/277tq engine except for fw drive. It's approx a 40k ES vs 60k GS .... so take your pick :)

No F-Sport ?

Thats so dumb that the es 350 gets the same engine as my 4gs, y the hell didnt they put a engine thats abit stronger in the current gs or with atleast 300 ft lb of TQ that is just plain dumb

you are wrong... ES does not have the same engine, it has cheaper version that also goes into Camry and makes 268hp.

Also, ES350 will not be topped out at 40k... most likely you will be able to option it out to 50k.

ES is nice FWD, big interior, nice looks... however it is also obviously built cheaper than GS with all the details being cheaper.

It look to me there is no F-sport badge for ES serie. ES ride toward for more of family oriented driver compare to the sporty GS & IS. If you drop the car 1" add a 19" F-sport wheel, rear spoiler kit. .... then it look very sleek and sporty except it still a fw car.

The new ES will be a nice, entry level luxury car with the popular FWD layout that will continue to sell well. Many luxury car buyers prefer a smooth ride and predictable understeer v. crisp handling and throttle induced oversteer.

.... or you can say why the hell the almost 20k cheaper ES get the same engine as the GS :) !
That's why when I test drove the GS350 I'm not too impressed w/ its perf power for a near 60k luxury sport car. Lexus should come out a V8 GS version with ~450hp/350tq to really call it a real f-sport car. Hopefully there will be a real higher tag GS-F to come out at mid cycle in 3 years from today :)

The 306hp/277tq is based on article unless motortrend provide wrong information. Need to double check with Lexus website.

As for the gas-powered 2013 ES 350, it will continue to be powered by an updated version of Toyota's 3.5-liter V-6 (in the GS the massaged engine outputs 306-hp/277-lb-ft) driving the front wheels via a six-speed automatic. The automaker claims the ES has been engineered with more precise handling and a smoother ride thanks to a stiffer body, new steering ratios, and revised suspension geometry and hardware. The ES will come standard with 17-inch wheels, with 18s available for the first time as an option.

The GS will have higher quality materials and will be a more sporty driver, if nothing else, because it is RWD. Hell, just look at the steering wheel and shifter in the ES vs. the GS and that speaks volumes about the car's purpose.

The styling is nice and balanced, but I'll be it will be a cushy boulevardier. My mother's 70 something year-old friends have two of them in their garage. Lexus won't want to alienate that core audience by changing the car's dynamics.

The article is indeed wrong. No need to check the website. The ES is powered by a 3.5L 268hp motor. The 3.5L in the GS/IS has direct and port injection the ES's does not

well they are wrong... it will have almost 30hp less and no D4S.

Not that it matters, even if it is exactly the same engine so what? 335i makes 535i redundant or what? And they are much bigger competition than ES vs GS

once again, there is no 20k difference. try 7-8k max.

They can't possibly have the same performance in both the GS and ES.... that would cannibalize the GS.

and of course guys c'mon there not changing that - ES - FWD totally different drive train its nothing close to the GS!!
