Default Amber tail light lens

Just wondering if anyone else is bothered by the amber tail light lens in the 4GS. It seems like a regression in design, considering the 2GS initially had an amber tail light lens, then went to a clear one, and the 3GS has always had a clear tail light lens.

I am 100% for amber turn signal lights (makes way more sense than a red turn signal, which is another rant for another day...), but it just seems like a much cleaner look to have the clear lens and amber bulb.

What I really don't understand is making LED brake lights but using an incandescent bulb as the turn signal bulb. That is also another rant for another day. Just wondering if anyone has attempted to either clear out the amber lens or put some film over the amber to make it a red lens. (Can you get amber light to come out of a red lens? Some posts online suggest that a green bulb may work but I don't know if that's actually true in practice.)

2gs never had clear taillight lens, that's the junction produce taillights and it's fully custom.

another thing for the facelift i guess

I'm just wondering if anyone has removed the amber lens to the tail light, or if anyone has figured out how to get an amber light to shine through a red lens. There are some cars that do this (BMW and Bentley come to mind) but the red lens is actually a bit pinkish.

Anyway, just wanted to see what people's opinion on the tail lights were. I know there was a mid-model refresh for the current gen LS where they went from clear turn signal lens to an amber turn signal lens and I also thought that looked worse. Maybe it's just me...

Default My two cents...

A car designer will leave "room for improvement"....(or change)... Hypothetically, in the upcoming years these amber sections in the rear lights may possibly be cleared or shifted to another location in the same silhouette to distinguish the different years from each other.

Another addition: It's only a matter of time before CARID.com makes a nice (I'm hoping nice, or at least decent) set of aftermarket all red or clear/red LED replacements for this beautiful car.

If you traded that '06 Acura TL for your '13 GS it's time to change your Avatar!

I did this shop not long after the GS was revealed, I too did not like the amber part. This thread reminded me of it, so thought I'd post it. Redded out the ambers and darkened the reverse section.
