4GS Release Discussion!
Haha, I said people were all angry at the leaks and now that we have a reveal most did turn over and after seeing it in person, almost all of you will like it. Lexus doesn't let us down folks, the exact same thing happened with the CT.
LF-Ch concept was great and received many criticisms and everybody turned.
CT prototype and leaks were heavily critiqued and shunned.
CT final showing was great and most did turn and ended up loving it.
Now it sells very well.
Recognize a similar pattern?
I'm actually reverse from most sentiments here, really liking the exterior (Lexus followed through and even exceeded my expectations in certain ways). The new generations of interiors looks nice but still not my cup of tea and that leather shifter boot looks very out of place, what is up with that? all GS350 MUST have a shifter boot? They really want us to get the Hybrid

A class above, that's how I described this interior from the early pics. Remains more true than ever now and it's important because a class above is how Lexus has traditionally been. They dropped the ball with the last set of redesigns but pulled all the stops with this one.

I am learning that if I got nothing good to say about the 4GS, I should not say anything at all.
I do like the interior, since I always like the latest BMW interior.
love the interior, it's gorgeous! still undecided about the exterior, but may come to like it if i get used to the look?
really impressed with all the latest tech added (lane departure warning, etc); with all of this in the 4GS, i wonder what the next gen LS will have that can exceed the 4GS?

Makes you wonder what they will do with the next LS. More expensive cars do have leather dash (like the CLS, A8 and 6 series) but even with them you have to pay more if you want contrast stitching.

yeah it's standard on the 600hl, but when i said option i mean the "feature" itself
TOTALLY digging the new sportier interior, thats a big plus in my book... the exterior could of been a little more optimistic... they toned it down a bit too much from the concept BUT, from the pictures it looks very sleek and sexy. Im guessing that in real life its not going to look as nice as these pics... im sure the first thing on this car will be to get a bigger set of wheels for it
I'm digging it. Love the interior finishes and layout, new interior color options, bump in interior room, and expect it to look very strong in person, especial in colors that accent the sharpened lines.
I really wanted to like the new 5 series, but was underwhelmed after spending time with one in person. If Lexus stepped up the driving aspect of the new GS (which by all journalistic reviews I read, they did), then this will time out great for me in a year or two. Hopefully by then, we'll have some more interesting engine options than the V6 and hybrid.

I love the outside, I love the inside, I love everything about this new GS so far. How come all cars in this class are so good looking. BMW 5-series, Benz E-class, Infiniti M, Jaguar XF, Audi A6, and this new GS are all great looking sedans. And I think this new GS is the best looking one among these elite teams.
It's ok. I suppose that Lexus has done enough to keep me as a customer.
Exterior looks fine to me, but I still do not like the trunk design. Headlamps are acceptable as well, but I will miss the quad lights. I think that they wanted an impressive LED display which those singular lights facilitated. I can live with it, though.
Ok, everyone is creaming on the new interior. I'm not. It's good looking, but not spectacular. The big issue I have is that it has no "cockpit" feel to it. Kinda flat. Also, I don't like the shiny metal on the steering wheel or on the center console.
I know it sounds like I'm complaining... which I sort of am... but I am still a Lexus fan and will most likely buy the 4GS. I like it a lot, just don't love certain things about it. From some angles, this car looks amazing. From other angles... booooooo.
All in all, good effort by Lexus. Can't wait to hear the new ML sound and test drive the increased performance.

When I first saw the white pics I was really underwhelmed and disappointing especially with the rear end but felt the quality was so bad and it still had tape that there was no reason to comment before I at least see better pics.
The first few new pics I saw left me unimpressed but after seeing the picture above it gives me hope as it has a nice sleek front end and nice stance in that picture. Unfortunately with all the pics I have seen it seems to suffer the "Genesis" identity problem where it does not really stand out as a GS or any unique model. The front looks to be a mix of the IS, new Maxima, and CT which is not a bad thing but I was hoping for a more recognizable look unique to a GS. The rear end is still plain and put me in mind of the new Infiniti M which has a very plain rear end but it does look better then the 3rd Gen GS in pretty much every way though it no longer has unique looks like all GSs had, I am sure it is going to get confused a lot with a IS or ES from a distance.
These pictures are also digitally edited and enhanced to make it look better so what we see in real life or what we see in the reveal later could be a bit duller and not as proportioned as well as that top pic.
Interior still has not sold me, particularly the somewhat plain center dash area but at least it is unique and has its own design instead of being a mish mash of other Lexus model interiors. I would have liked something more that took the CT theme but made it more upscale and sportier. The interior doors area is much better executed then the 3rd Gen doors and it is nice to see some more interior color options.
Overall I like it more then the 3rd Gen GS mainly going from that top picture but I was never a fan of the 3rd Gen in the first place. Unfortunately this gen does not have its own instantly recognizable look anymore and looks much closer to other Lexus models then it ever did. If it turns out being bland looking in real life where no risks were taken than the designers actually did their job because bland, safe, and conservative is what people want in cars, cars that take risks, are more edgy, and stand out are often usually universally criticized and sales suffer so safe and bland is what we are going to get and what to expect and what sells.
