4GS mega thread (UPDATED; preview drives, specs, more interior pics)
The M5 is heavy, at least 4300lbs. The GS-F will probably cost a pretty penny, probably competitively priced in this segment. That's the logical choice. Wonder what the new M5 will run? 90k? I'd think so. I'm guessing if the GS-F is priced competitively with its competition, it'll be around 80K. I think they can throw in some carbon fiber and some other lightweight materials, maybe take out some of the sound deadening will keep the weight down too? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Basically, if Lexus can be close in power and equal/better the m5 in and 0-60/lap times for a few grand less (or even the same price for that matter) the GS-F will be a winner in my book.
But it NEEDS to match the performance of the M5.

numbers can only tell you one thing. There's a whole lot more than just matching a 0-60 numbers or stupid ring time.
Rich people didn't get rich my wasting money. If Lexus has a 10k advantage in pricing... It WILL catch peoples attention.
The GS F will only succeed (if it's actually built) if it matches or exceeds the existing competitors (RS6/M5/E63) and is priced lower.

and i agree with STIG, if you are a true buyer who can afford these cars, 85-100k don't really matter much (keep in mind, that's msrp). when i shopped for my m3, i didn't care if it's 50k (isf) or 78k e93 m3.
isf is 10k cheaper than m3 on paper, do you see more isf on the road? i am not saying real buyers won't look at the 10k, but the 10k will hardly be the deciding factor. if one does, then to me he/she is stretching on the purchase
BUT IMHO, that will only happen if and only if it has at least 500 hp at minimum. Otherwise, I would lose interest
Exactly! I am waiting for the Bugatti Galibier, I mean if I am going to spend $140k on a M5, what's another $1.4 millions you know? If you are counting penny like that, you can't afford it anyway
1000 hp is better then the 600 hp in the F10 M5

I am guessing the F10 M5 will base at $100k~$105k, fully loaded at ~$120k.
X5 M is like $105k, fully loaded 650i convertible is $110k.
The F10 M5 is closely related to the X5 M, and historically speaking M5 is similarily price to a 650i convertible.
Yeah I am pretty sure Lexus is not making a 550+ hp, $110k+ M5 fighter. They already having a very hard time selling the $105k+ LS600hL flagship, I don't think they are going to make a GS at the same price level. It would be cool though.
