I have a 2008 Lexus GS 450h with a japanese headunit, and I am looking to swap the headunit with an English OEM headunit (maybe from the UK or Australian, depending on what I can get cheaper). I plan to also add a Grom Vline2 to the system sometime down the line.
Is there anything I have to worry about regarding the Harness connectors on the back? I can see that the connectors on the back look very different. I am unsure if I will lose the basic functionality such as AC Control, Hybrid information screen, etc. Also, is it true that the Japanese headunits have compatibility issues with the Grom Vline2 compared to the other variants (Not too sure on this)?
My headunit has Navigation, but no Mark Levingson.
The replacement units look something similar to this:

not advice on a swap, but there is a way to change your language settings and map settings. try to dive into your settings for the language setting and switch that. After that access the secret menu by following this tutorial:
I have recently bought a jap import lexus GS 40 which has a fault associated with thr precision collision system light coming on after a few klicks and being unable to extinguish unless with the off key . the toyota people have had it for days "looking into it " and now say they are unable to help because everything is in japanese . I have found a source that sells a reprogrammed harddrive that replaces the original with the only loss being the lines on the reverse screen . I have contacted an car audio expert for assistance to do the replacement but he is reluctant to do this for me because he is not sure of its reliability . has any one used this hard drive and can give me some reassurance please -I am from Hamilton New Zealand . meanwhile I will try the method explained above
