Update navigation
I just saw a you tube video with instructions on updating a navigation system for a 2008 gs 350. Has anyone tried this or do I need to go to a Lexus dealer?

I just updated the navigation system in the 2006 GS430 I bought a few weeks ago. Bought the U30 DVD (the last update for my model) off eBay for $10, followed the incredibly easy instruction in a YouTube video, and it works!! Took all of 3-5 minutes to execute the upgrade in the car.

To be frank, I rarely use OEM navigation.
Compared to the smartphone, the OEM navi is so out of date, display is ugly,
and instructions aren't as accurate.
However, when I'm on a long highway driving, and don't want to drain the smartphone battery,
I do use OEM navi. I guess for $10, it's not a bad deal.

I suppose I lucked out with the DVD I bought. With that said, the nav system in this car absolutely sucks. Of course I am comparing to more modern cars and nav on my phone. I know it was cutting edge when it came on the market, but it is very dated now. I will probably be installing an android tablet soon to get a more modern experience, light years better screen detail, aux, bluetooth, quality/current nav, etc. etc...
