Can't fit outer rear pad
 

Hello everyone, I'm trying to replace my rear pads on '07 GS350. I removed the anti-rattle clips, pins, and caliper bolt. Swung the caliper out and removed pads, then compressed piston. Caliper isn't that old and not seized as it moves freely. The weird part is that I have plenty of clearance for the inner pad, but can't get the outer in. I pulled the caliper towards me (outside) but still can't get the pad in. I tried with the caliper on first, then inserting pads, and also caliper off and tried to then swing it onto the rotor with pads. Double checked the part numbers and they're identical to the old pads. Not sure what else I could be missing here.

It's still probably stuck because of the slider pin.
Either muscle it out to move the caliper for pad clearance or find a way to free up that slide pin.

Yup sounds like a stuck slider pin, its the bottom pivot for the caliper housing. If you do not free that up and just slap pads in, it could wear out your pads faster. Many times they are seized, so its a really pain to get it to seperate, so much so guys just buy a pair of new calipers.

If they are seized, heat is your best friend. Remove the caliper, undo the brake line and housing from the car. With a propane torch heat the outer portion of the pin until it gets very hot. Then grab a hammer and hammer that pin in further to help free it up. Spray pb blast helps break it loose also. Once loose, sand the pin with fine sand paper and grease it up really well. You want that pin to float freely

I believe the slide pin is free. I'm able to remove the caliper bolt and completely slide the caliper off the bottom pivot.

If its free then should be able to easily just push the whole caliper inward or outward until you have enough space to slip the new pads in.
