Exclamation 2006 GS430 Check VCS, Engine Warning Lamp, Cruise won't Engage

Also, traction control Warning Lamp is lit, cruise won't engage and it says check Cruise Control System. Hard as it is to believe all of these warning lamps and systems that won't work are caused by a loose Fuel Cap or one that isn't sealing correctly. IF you have tightened the cap till it clicks twice these warnings should go away after you drive the car a few times. I would also check the small rubber O ring on the gas cap to make sure it isn't cracked, replace it if it is. If not cracked clean it with a towel and WD40 then lube it with a little Lithium grease. Make sure you clean off the top of the metal filler pipe the cap seals to with some WD40 or Silicone lube on a paper towel to ensure you are getting a good tight seal. Also, check to make sure the small spring in the centre of the Cap is working properly, it controls the pressure in the fuel system. Without adequate pressure it throws codes.

If you want to clear the code immediately and don't have an OBD2 tool; First choice is to pull the EFI fuse for a couple of minutes, second option is you can disconnect the negative pole of the battery for five minutes. You will then have to reset your one touch for the side windows and moon roof as well as seat and Fob Memory if you disconnect the battery.

There are a host of other reasons this combination of warnings can appear but this is far and away the easiest to check first and you don't need a scan tool. Hope this helps.

As a further update, if your gas cap spins off as soon as you go to remove it, then it is not sealing properly. The O ring may be over compressed. You can remove the O ring carefully and flip it over. It will work fine again. If you can find the right dealer u can buy the O ring as a separate piece and I would replace the one you have flipped over for a temporary fix. Also, f you can't find just an O ring, Stant makes a replacement cap for $8 that works every bit as good as the Lexus $80 replacement.
