Whats with insurance on GS's?
I have a 2011 Lexus GS350 and I've been quoting other vehicles, one being a 2016 Lexus GX460, and the rate on the GX is about 30% lower than for the GS. What gives? I've also quoted a 2015 Lexus RC350 and that's lower than the GS. I don't get it. Heck even a 2007 Porsche 911 S and 2013 Corvette Grand Sport came in lower than my GS. Only benefit is that it is paid off. Anyone else in a similar situation where you live?
Are parts for our cars model specific? Limited supply? It's not a sports car by any means.

My wife's newer Cayenne S is significantly less than my '08 GS460. Both have clean driving records, but for some reason it's just a lot higher than her car. Couldn't say why, nor have I really dug into the reasoning. Would be interesting to know, however. Despite what my profile says, I'm in TX as well... Maybe this terrible state just hates our cars

I'm in Houston, so our cars are also used as submarines from time to time. It doesn't really make sense though, you're right. Hopefully somebody can weigh in on this.

Insurance is bs but after paying 5000 a year paying 2500 doesn't seem bad and with the way this wheel is rocking due to bad bearing having insurance seems like a solid investment. Jk I will replace it asap

The cost of insurance for my 2008 GS350 is basically the same as my 2012 RX350, approximately $1,850 each. The insurance costs for my previous Lexus SC400 and RX330 were also similar to the GS350.

I pay between $600-$650/year for full coverage from Progressive in WI for my 09 GS350 AWD with 95K mi.. I have nothing to compare that to because my other two cars are older and I only carry liability on those.
All of you Canucks get hosed on insurance.

08 GS350 AWD 120k miles $504
01 911- $716
06 RX400H - $462
Total: $1,592
I am going to investigate increasing my coverage values tho. 100k wasn’t enough from the other person to cover my accident injuries from last year.

Could that higher insurance rates be due to parts not being interchangeable between different models making their availability limited? Is it because the GS is labeled a sports sedan?
