Side mirror auto tilt down while reversing
There are times after using the feature, my side mirrors won't come back to the exact level that I had it at previously. Sometimes after a day or two of use, they'll have to be readjusted. Are there any fixes for this? I thought perhaps the gearing is reaching the end limit of it. So I've tried tilting it max to one direction in an attempt to reset the motor. But usually to no avail.

Sounds like your internal plastic gears have gotten worn down. You will need to purchase the internals and replace yours, or buy a whole new mirror.
This is why on my car I turned it off that feature as soon as possible. If you want to turn yours off its kinda tricky, but on the left drivers drop down, where you have that long left or right mirror option. Press in between and instead of you seeing the little led light move from left or right it will turn off completely. |
Yeah. I only used it for maybe a week after I got the car. Then I've left them off since then (year and half or so).

Mine is the same. Seems like the internal plastic gears have worn down like ibidu1 states. I've left mine off for 5+ years now.

That sucks because I find them very helpful when backing into spots to see the lines. It would be cool if the backup camera had the parking lines like new cars that also adjust to turning, etc. But I will say what's more infuriating me recently is when they tilt to backup, then I'm on the road in traffic, attempting to merge or change lanes, and the last item before merging is a last check in my side mirror and BAM, I can't see a thing. I can't merge. I have to open the console to select that mirror (if it's not already) and adjust it. By this time, I've lost my lane change. I know it's a complete first world problem but frustrating none the less.

I have the same issue on my GS350 and have turned it off for a year now.
Reverse-tilting mirrors was very helpful feature, and worked perfectly on my older ES330, but on my GS350 they never seemed to go back to the same position. |
I have got 2007 gs300. Got this problem and know how to fix it for like few months or so. U need to calibrate it. Just move it up till the end and move it down till the end and then move it to your position and memory it ;) that's all.

I went out today and after reversing (the mirrors auto tilted down), the drivers side would not tilt back up. My passenger side mirror still works fine. Horizontal adjustments even work fine on the driver side. It’s only vertical adjustments. When I click up or down to adjust, there’s just a faint relay click. Any ideas which part would be having the issue? I wouldn’t think fuse if horizontal still works. |
Probably reducer broke down. Just turn off tilting i guess the best way if u dont wanna change mirror.

I have this problem too. More on the driver side than the pass.

False alarm. It started randomly working again today. Maybe due to our insane 50° temperature fluxations recently? Oh well. |
