Should I buy a 2006 gs300?
Currently working in Dallas, Texas and just ran pass one for sale from a local mechanic, car had 170k miles but I test drove it and it rode nice I've just never owned a Lexus not sure how high the mileage can go... Would love some advice

You may want to search the thread. It's been covered quite a few times in the past month. I'm surprised that you didn't mention any rattles or squeaking noises. The first 2 production years are plagued with dash noises when it's cold outside.
As far as mileage, it really depends if the TSB for the carbon issue was performed. See if the mechanic have any records or you can plug the VIN on lexusdrivers.com to see any maintenance was done.

I saw 350s in the 7k area so maybe you should take time to find the best possible car for your money the 300 is nice but the 350 is nicer and more reliable
And mechanic selling it prolly means there were some issues that he quickly fixed up/band aided to sell the car

After reading all of the problems that have been encountered on the 2006 GS 300 here, I specifically ruled that model out when I went searching, and ended up buying an 09 GS 350. I have no regrets.
