Cool Park Assist malfunctions - works and stops at its own 'will'

My parking assist stopped working properly - the very front sensors go off without any obstacles ahead with a constant beep and, on the icon, a single red line in front of the car. It's been like this for a month or so (I had it turned off). However, today I got it working again for short time. Out of curiosity (don't ask why...), I turned it on at 45 miles/hr and when stopped at a red light, tested it (getting closer to a car in front) and it worked! Turned it off and on again, it stopped working. When got home, I cleaned the sensors well again, open/closed the instrument panel a few times (in case cables are loose), and it worked for a few minutes again until the car was off. So, it was working at least three times. What is it? Doesn't look like bad sensor/s because they do work (rarely for a short time). How can I check, test, or fix it (without taking to a dealership)?
