Awhile back KYB didnt even sell aftermarket for awd, only the is250awd, but the valving was different. Now they offer it, and its pretty cheap! $62 per side and theres a rebate (expires soon) on rockauto.com. Oem retails for $200 per side

KYB is the same as oem, theyre the oem supplier for toyota/lexus

yes, definitely start by taking a look at your struts. I was having a similar issue and replaced both struts and shocks; ride quality was restored

I'm at 155k and have been thinking it may be time to start looking at suspension components to replace. The only thing i've seen while inspecting things is a torn boot on the strut (i believe). Are most of these suspension components DIY friendly...or do they require special tools, etc??

I paid $90 per side for OEM struts for my AWD from MyLparts with a 5% discount, about 2 years ago.

If the CV boot is ripped does that automatically mean the CV joint needs replacing?

Not necessarily. It depends on whether any dirt, moisture, or other contamination got inside and contaminated the grease/joint. If that happens, it will eventually damage the bearings in the joint itself. It's best to replace a damaged boot asap

Oops sorry, I was talking in relation to my BC coil overs that I replaced them with. They dont use a bearing they use a metal sleeve inside the rubber in the upper strut mount plate.

Those videos you posted only the 3rd is for AWD, as the AWD vs RWD have different mounting setups.
