Your original maf sensor is ok, if it were bad it most likely would throw a check engine light. Important thing is that you cleaned it!

What was the cause of the head gasket? Did the water pump go out on you?

Sounds like MAF sensor is damaged. Never, never touch it with anything.

No, it was not due to the common water pump problem. I just noticed that I was losing coolant and when I had it checked out, the leak was from the right outer head gasket. Lexus wanted $7K for the job, not including the cost of machining/re-surfacing. I got it done from my regular garage for $1,900.00, including machining to original specs.

I'm inclined to purchase a used MAF sensor and a used Throttle Body as replacement now. Which one should I do first?

Just for reference I experienced something similar in a Mercedes E320 a few years ago. It turned out to the crankshaft position sensor going bad which explains the shut off...

Thanks for the info, but wouldn't that have thrown an engine code for crankshaft sensor malfunction? I have no codes popping up and the dealer could not find any codes either.

It did eventually after 3 months as the symptoms worsened.

Alright, your guess is coming into light. Over the weekend (Sat, Jan. 27) I had my throttle body replaced and today (Mon, Jan. 29) my car shuts off just as I put her into park when I got home from work. However, this time it throws the code P0335 (Crankshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Malfunction). Although I replaced the throttle body with a used one, but my mechanic gave me a 90 days warranty so if it turns out not be the part, then he will take it back.

The crankshaft position sensor does not seem to be expensive, but I cannot seem to find a diagram from the Internet as where this sensor sits. Just wanted to know what kind of work is needed to change the sensor.
