Default Changed my Sparkplugs

Changed the plugs on my 2006 GS300 after 60k as the book prescribes with the Denso iridiums. Noticed a smoother idle, but that’s about it. Not going to pretend like I can “read” my spark plugs, but attached is a picture, and all seem to look ok. For anyone who hasn’t done it, you can probably go over the change interval, but it’s so easy to do I don’t see why you would. Figured id just through it out there

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I changed mine @ 90k per recommendation from the dealer. I also switched to Mobil 1 5W30 fully synthetic. After the "improvements", I'm seeing about a 1 mile per gallon reduction in fuel consumption with highway driving. Not sure if it's the plugs, the oil, or a combination. I'd be interested if you see any change in your highway mileage.

Defiantly burning a little oil, that is the ash color. What has me concerned is the white particles. If those particles or spots are welded to the plug, chances are that is aluminum. Usually caused by spark knock and or lean running. clean the MAF and run some sea foam would be my recommendation.

I do lose a little bit of oil between oil changes, but by that it goes down maybe 2-3mm on the dipstick on 5k intervals, besides that it’s been good. Didn’t think the plugs were that bad as they look exactly the same as plugs I pulled out of my ES330 and 2002 GS300, shows how much I know

As far as gas mileage, I’ll report back in a bit, but the computer says it’s up 1 MPG

2006 GS300 have direct injection injectors meaning the injectors do not spray gas on the valves, but after them in the combustion chamber. After time dirt/oil clings onto the valves and builds up and forms into hard carbon making it difficult to remove. This is why lexus chose to rebuild for free many 2006 gs300, and is250's engines from carbon buildup, but that offer has expired.

Your at 60k which is super low mileage as preventative measure you can add an aftermarket oil catch can. An oil catch can diverts the fumes/oils coming from the valve covers and instead of reentering it into the intake manifold the catch can traps the oils into a chamber. periodically you will have to drain out the catch can.

You can buy a high quality can like radium for under $200

Should have specified, it’s at 140k, but originals were changed 60k ago, and I’m well aware of the carbon issue these cars have, but have had no real issues. Rebuild was done at 80k when the spark plugs were done.
As far as a catch can, I had one for 25k miles and there was almost nothing in it. I removed it when I had the radiator replaced because of where it was mounted, and haven’t put it back in.

The 430 is an old engine. It's the 3uz-fe, not FSE, so therefore it is not DI like the 350 or the 300 engines.

You'll know it's DI as the DI system is VERY noticable. Sit in a GS350 (new or old) and you'll hear that ticking noise.

That doesn't occur for the 430s. Matter of fact, the 430s are so quiet I'd darn right tell you, you wouldn't notice its on if its all stock lol.
