camera wires must be run to the trunk lid location, and all the OEM wires going to that location are going via a ribbon cable that retracts into a spiral retraction device, so I'm wondering how people are running the wires. I'm sure it's not that difficult, but I'm also pretty sure it's going to be a bit "rigged" since there is no way it's going to be as good as factory unless there are unused wires going through that OEM ribbon cable on vehicles that don't have an OEM camera???

But, yes, the trigger wire must be tapped to a voltage source typically found at the white lights in the rear of the vehicle that come on when the vehicle is put into reverse (but can be found elsewhere quite frequently).

Looks good!

I've heard that it takes awhile starting up but the backup camera works instantly.. is that true?
Was the installation straight forward as well?

Those android computers have special circuitry to show the camera as soon as you put it in reverse. I have one in another car, they are all quite similar sans screens and bezels. The only problem with those android computers is they are very stingy on memory, and you can have a handful of apps. The 1G version can barely run Google Play.
You are at the mercy of the radio app they give you too, I know on mine it constantly changes the preset stations labels as the RDS changes. It is very annoying, you can see random things like names of songs and advertisements.

Hi everyone,
I was able to retain the factory (OEM) camera with this headunit.

OEM Camera

Here is a link on how I did it:

You'll have to connect an external Sirius receiver through the AUX port or use the Sirius Android app with a data connection. There's no native Sirius tuner built into these units.

Does the parking sensor still function? I 'm guessing it should since the on/off switch has nothing to do with the screen.
Can someone confirm?
Also I have a viastech bluetooth device installed. I don't think I need that anymore with this screen?

Those that have had this now for 6 mo or so, what do you think ? Was it worth it to switch ? Looking for a modern radio setup.

Thx
