06 GS430 Creeping Up on 200k
This has been the best car I've ever owned, by far. Bought it in December 2011 with 60k miles. Reliability has been incredible - nothing replaced on this thing other than tires, brakes, battery, alternator, and the 90k service (timing belt, water pump, idler and tensioner pulleys). Synthetic oil changes every 5k miles. I still get compliments on how it looks much newer than it is, doesn't look like it has so many miles on it, etc.
Do I go ahead and get the 90k service done again? I plan on keeping the car until something major goes wrong that doesn't make sense to repair OR I win the lottery. And I don't play the lottery so that's unlikely to happen.
Let me know what you think. Thanks!

If there's nothing else wrong with teh car i'd just do the maintenance. A one time payment of however much it costs is still cheaper than throwing down thousands for a down on a new car and paying monthly car payments for the next few years.
This is just imo. I'm eager to see how far my 2007 GS350 takes me. Some people would use that opportunity to try another car, and there aint nothing wrong with that either.

Yes, at some point the maintenance pattern repeats. If a timing belt was due at 90k it theoretically should be done again at 180k along with whatever was scheduled.

I'm with ya. On one hand, I'm so pleased that I haven't had to spend a bunch of money on reliability issues. On the other, I've been eyeing the new GS for a few years now. I'd love to get another 50k miles or more out of it and delay that new car payment. This service was around $900 last time, so it'll be a bit more now. Is it worth spending a grand or so and hoping to get another couple years out of it?

I bought my CPO 2006 GS430 in April 2012 with 50k miles. I just turned 150k. I did the 90k service around 100k miles. I asked to have the dealership give me back the used timing belt. It looked new. No cracks whatsoever. I'll probably do another timing belt service at 200k just to be safe.
Ive replaced tires and brakes, the battery, both headlights, a seized caliper (under CPO warranty), and the only other thing that has gone wrong is the door hinges freezing up (which makes no sense, but it seems to be a common problem).
Like you, this is the best car I've ever owned. I'd like to drive it for several hundred thousand more miles.

What's the fix for the door hinge issue? My rear passenger side door is really difficult to open. I applied some grease but it didn't seem to help. I took the door panel off but it doesn't appear to be very easy to access the inside where the hinge is actually exposed. Any fixes?

The first time my door hinges froze, it was the right rear passenger door. The dealer told me the hinges needed to be replaced, so I went ahead and did it (for about $400 as I recall). When it began happening to other doors, I've just sprayed some wd-40 in there and it seems to have fixed the issue (for now).
As I understand, the hinges are sealed so the only true fix is to drill some holes in them as lubricate them that way. There is a recent thread floating around on this exact topic (like within the last week or so).

Was just about to tell you about the drill & lube method.
I, however, dont have any problems on mine's *knock on wood*
Did my scheduled maintanence just like you guys. rear diff, trans, timing belt, water pump, etc. etc.... all done for 900 also.
Mine's was done at 90k, I'm rolling close to 125k now... Everyone's been trying to persuade me to get ready and sell the car and get another, but no payments, no worries, happy camper .
Glad to hear you guys have rolled into 200k, with the car riding like new.... Mine's is moderately modified and it still drives and feels like the first day I got it, so I don't think i'll be letting it go anytime soon
Matter of fact, it took 125k miles for my original rear brakes (since 0 mi) to finally wear out now and I purchased front and rear R1 concepts rotors with their pads.
I'll be posting pics up when they're installed soon

The 3UZ starter is a PITA. You have to remove the entire intake manifold, 2 of the bolts that hold the starter to the engine are accessed from below/behind the car (think transmission tunnel) and a few other things.
Had a 2001 ls430 that hit 250k before it was wrecked/i picked up an 06 gs430.. 3UZ's are strong
