Which firmware update should I download to update my firmware in my 2008 Lexus GS 350?
( Note: I have never update the firmware ever since I received my 2008 Lexus GS 350).

If he's talking the firmware of the proprietary OS in the head unit, I doubt any such thing exists.

There are firmware updates for the newer vehicles and infotainment systems (i.e.: a 2013 GS), but none for ours. There are updates for the DVD navigation system, though.

In terms of the firmware for the infotainment system itself, that has to be loaded by a Lexus dealer. I apologize if I phrased my previous post incorrectly, however, there are Navigation Updates you can purchase and Lexus has a handy guide on which one you should get for your car:

The latest update for our navigation is 2016 v16.1 U41. I think they have stopped updating the navigation now.
I currently have 2012 v12.1.
When I upgrade the navigation disc, is there any other updates that are applied to the system? Or does it simply give it the new map data?

I have trouble with the navigation selecting the correct route. Does anyone have any tips of how to change your route on the navigation?

Last time I did mine it was a simply new maps. The thing pretty much sucks and I have never gotten the voice recognition to work. I say Gas Station and I get Hospitals??

So, like everyone else I just use Waze on my phone.

I use Waze on my phone... except this morning I forgot my phone and had a meeting to attend, was freaking out about being late if I had to go back home for my phone.... until my in-car nav came to the rescue....

The ECU and TCU both have had updates come out within the last year or so. The last update, as @professorm mentioned, is the 2016 v16.1 U41 DVD Update. These can be had on eBay for $15-$20. The v16.1 does come on two DVDs, strictly for POI (Points of Interest) East and West. The navigation for streets, etc, are come amongst the East and West DVDs.

How do I get the ECU and TCU updates?

I bought a disk and waiting for it to come. I did not know about the East/West thing, but luckily I bought the correct one.
