Default The heck is this?

After about 6 months of a constant vibration coming from the back, driver's side of my car, I took it upon myself to rip the trunk liner off and poke around for the cause. After a few min, I discovered that this small, white box was the troublemaker. To get it to stop, I shoved a couple pieces of thin foam between the contact points where it's mounted. Thankfully this resolved the noise issue; however, I have NO idea what the heck this thing is. I wasn't able to find much after searching, so if anybody knows what this is, I'd appreciate the help

Yes - it's for the seatbelt - mine did the same thing. I put a few layers of Dynamat over it too.
