Hello,

Based on experience from Lexus owners, specifically of the 2006 GS 300, should we purchase the extra warranty coverage from a 3rd party vendor, GWC Warranty? They have a A+ rating but still have some bad reviews. We were considering a 2 years/25K miles zero deductible for $1700 covering the 'essentials'. I know, the fine print is everything. I am trying to get a feel on what type of problems we are going to have as this is our first Lexus. We JUST bought this one for our son's first car. It has 102K miles on it, excellent condition, 1 owner & always serviced, every 5K, at a local Lexus dealer.

Our older son does most of our 'general' maintenance on honda/acura that we have.

Any comment/suggestions?

I would definitely go for it. I purchase the Extended warranty on my 06 and it pretty much paid for itself. I had the front timing cover resealed because it was leaking. Apparently a common issue on the 06 GS300 and earlier GS350. Mine also cover the TPMS. The cost without the coverage was close to 4k. Make sure the coverage that you are purchasing will cover the transmission as well.

It may also cover the dreaded carbon buildup issue that plague SOME GS300 but the dealership won't do anything unless they can reproduce the issue.
