GS - 3rd Gen (2006-2011) Discussion about the 2006+ model GS300, GS350, GS430, GS450H and GS460

Does anyone know how to do the NAV/DVD over-ride (cut wires) on the 2011 GS 350?

Default Does anyone know how to do the NAV/DVD over-ride (cut wires) on the 2011 GS 350?

Yesterday I took care of my 2007 GS 350 w/NAV & ML without any problem. Cut purple, yellow and white w/silver dots wires and installed a switch. But as you can see from the attached pics, the wires on the 2011 are all different. Both cars have the NAV & ML.

Thanks.

I suspect that at least some of the big players at CL know how to do it (cut wires) on the 2011, but since Prestigious Society and/or Beat Sonic are sponsors of CL, they decided to abstain from sharing the knowledge. So much for integrity...

If you do not want to cut the wires there is a kit that plugs into the back of the nav and then you plug the nav connection to the kit box, which has a switch connected to it.

If you need wire diagrams I can try and get one later when I get home. I subscribed to the Lexus / Toyota website so I have access to all the electrical diagrams for a month.

Yes. You can also get a kit , which is plug and play. That's what I did, but the OP is doing the cutting wire method, just more complicated and you can cause some damage if done wrong.

It was some japanese company on Ebay, it was about $200. I do not have a link but I think the company is called NAV TV and its a yellow box with japanese letters. There is also a few videos on how to remove the nav , which is not as hard as you think. Just need the right tools , such as a plastic trim removal tool , and a small screw driver. If I find the link I will let you know.

Hey, that's very kind of you! Thank you for the offer. But after spending more than 30 hours looking everywhere for the proper instructions, I gave up and ordered a kit. Though I would have prefer to use the cut wires method like I did on my 2007.

Such info about the model year 2011 should be made available on CL. So people have more choice. It is not just about money. I prefer the cutting wires method as I see it more "permanent". Not at the mercy of some fancy electronic box.

Maybe you could upload a pdf file containing a definition for all the wires at the back of the monitor. Like another forum member had done for an earlier version of the GS. For the 2007 model, it was under the AUDIO / VISUAL: AUDIO AND VISUAL SYSTEM: TERMINALS OF ECU (2007 GS 350 GS430).

Thanks again.

No problem , just let me know which wire diagram you need and I will try and find it. I have a few weeks left of my subscription.

The document needed is the same that EyeKutr posted on 2-27-10, but for the 2011. See attachment. And thanks again.

There's a few other posts later (see one below) that discuss what other changes are needed but good luck.
