Default Aftermarket Tire Pressure Sensors

Great day to all! Is anyone using or have used aftermarket tire pressure sensors? I'm mainly looking for a setup that has a monitor showing the actual pressure reading of each tire but I would like to hear from anyone with experience using aftermarket sensors. Thank you for your time. -Jay

I had a tire sensor go bad and spent hours at Americas Tire in North Hollywood. They were very patient but could not get their hand held scanner to read ANY of the sensors in my 450h.

After reading on here about Techstream and what it can do, I went ahead purchased it from eBay. After wiping the dust off an old netbook I was able to get it working on a 32 bit Windows 7 machine.

I have only messed around with it plugged into my car once but I was able to see which rim had the bad sensor AND what the pressures are in each rim. As soon as I get some time I will head back over to Americas Tire with my aftermarket sensor I bought off Amazon and see what we can do to get it programed.

I will report back here what we were able to accomplish...

Just wondering though: Why do you need to know real time, what your pressures are at?

Hey Cwiok71, thanks for the reply and info. Keep me updated after you get the new sensors working. I'd like to see live pressure readings since I'll soon be slapping on a set of aftermarket wheels. I always look at my tires before taking off but it can take a while and a lot of pressure lost by the time it's obvious to the naked eye. I'm getting 20" wheels and will be, for the first time, using a 30 series tire. I'm used to 35 series tires but have never gone this low on the profile so figure I would take additional precautions.

You can set the psi range where it tells you when the tire is low also, so that can help, but our cars don't show live tire pressures on the dash (I only wish though ).

What he said.
With Techstream it looked like you can change the parameters to when it will tell when the tire is low. IE: 5 psi above or below 38

Look into the Android app- Torque. It does some really great things via Bluetooth to Android phones and might be able to see the psi in each rim.

Thanks for the reply guys! This is what I'm looking for. Hopefully I uploaded the pictures correctly. If I can't find good reviews on something like this then I'll simply have to work with our OEM setup and adjust the pressure settings. Hopefully someone in the community has used something like this before.

Has anyone used this type of tire pressure sensor setup on a Lexus or any other vehicle? Apart from proper readings I'm also concerned with battery life. Some of these setups allow you to replace the batteries in the sensors as well.
