Dealer has only 1 key fob for my '11 GS350 so now I need a second just in case...
I apologize if this has been asked but where can I get a second key fob and if I get a used one on eBay ect.. can the dealer reprogram it or should I get a new one and reprogram it myself or the dealer has to do it? How much would the new key fob cause and a reprogramming fee from the dealer?

I had this happen when I bought my GX. I bought a brand new key fob for around $100 from MyLparts.com and they cut the key for me. Then I used Techstream to program it myself. You can search here and read up on bootleg techstream program.

the dealership said it couldn't be done. i bought one online and had an independent locksmith do it. works perfectly...

Hmmm.... Where is the other key fob? I would have made that part of the deal. No way I would have only taken one fob when it comes with two. Its not like a regular key.

I went to the dealer today and asked them how much they would charge for a new key fob the part dept guy told me $245 for the key fob and $45 for the labor I left outta that door so fast and didnt look back.

i bought it from ebay for $50 used… the locksmith just made another blade key off the original and reprogramed the fob to match the car… it took him a total of 20 min… i have his number if you come to california

don't let them short change you for your hard earned money. Tell them thats inappropriate and you demand that they provide you with a another FOB or else they can take they're lovely car back.

Exactly....they should be ashamed to give you one fob...especially if you bought the car from a Lexus dealership.

You can buy a used key. They'll have to remove all other keys and reprogram the ones you have.

As long as the key you have is the master key any used fob should work but will need reprogramming and you will need a new key cut (you will need to replace the blade and cut it) any descent locksmith with a programmer should be able to do the programming and I am sure you can find keys with fob on ebay

I bought a used key fob for my 07. My local dealer tried to reprogram but claims it wasn't possible. I have heard others on the board have done it but best confirm your local option before buying used.
